Blind Owl
I'd agree and say that ST #89 is the all-time pre-hero Strange Tales book... I think for JIM..it would be #62. Here is my old copy, I no longer own it though... Even though it wasn't super high-grade...I still miss it. Nice, but my favotire JIM cover is this one: The awesomeness of this Ditko cover cannot be matched! Oh, I wasn't saying that JIM #62 was my favorite cover, It's not...but rather it's the most IMPORTANT pre-hero JIM book.
Dick Pontoon
For those who care about such things Strange Tales #97 is notoriously miscut. Some copies include an open mouth on woman woman at the bottom, others are cropped. I prefer the open mouth version.

KirbyJack
KirbyJack's Top Twenty Pre-Hero Marvels! #1 - Tales Of Suspense #1. The beautiful Williamson story gives it an ever-so-slight edge over... #2 - Tales To Astonish #1. (I'm doing this the hard way; NO ties!) #3 - Amazing Adventures #1. Droom! The Doctor, not the Living Lizard. #4 - Strange Worlds #1. Moved down the list thanks to the early Marvel scholar rodan57, who informed us that it does not pre-date TTA 1 and TOS 1. #5 - Strange Tales #67. First real "pre-hero" of that title. #6 - Journey Into Mystery #50. Just behind S.T., which I deem to have the superior pre-hero resume. #7 - Strange Tales #89. Popularity makes F.F.F. the Spider-Man of Monsters. #8 - Strange Tales 97. See why I give S.T. the nod over J.I.M. yet? #9 - Tales Of Suspense #2. Its classic cover noses out... #10 - Tales To Astonish #2. #11 - World Of Fantasy #15. You didn't forget Ol' WOF, did you? #12 - Amazing Adult Fantasy #7. Stan had high hopes for these All-Ditko stories. He made a real effort. #13 - Strange Tales annual #1. The last big showcase for a fading genre. (o.k., I love annuals, so sue me) #14 - Tales To Astonish #13. 1st. Groot. Groot is freaking awesome. #15 - Journey Into Mystery #62. Xemnu "The Hulk". #16 - Tales Of Suspense #15. Goom. Not Googam, Goom. #17 - Tales Of Suspense #9. First Diablo. #18 - Strange Tales #75. Taboo! #19 - Tales To Astonish #15. The Blip, who doesn't like to be confused with Zzaxx. #20 - Tales To Astonish #29. My favorite pre-hero cover (hey, it's my list). Yes, there are tons of cool monsters, like Zzutak, The Thing That Shouldn't Exist!, that could have been included here. I went with the ones that appeared more than once, and/or re-appeared in post-hero stories. You may have noted the influence of Hulk annual #5. I enjoyed Hulk annual #5. My list would be something like this...I didn't include WOF or SW because I didn't consider them pre-hero because those titles never had any heroes in them. So my list is only ST, JIM, TTA, TOS & AA/AAF. We are NOT including TTA #27 right... (thumbs u 1) TTA #1 (because it's earlier than TOS) 2) TOS #1 3) AA #1 4) ST #89 5) ST #97 6) JIM #62 7) TOS #2 8) TTA #8 9) ST #67 10) JIM #50 11) AAF #13 12) ST #68 13) TOS #32 14) TTA #2 15) JIM #66 16) ST #80 17) AAF #7 18) TTA #31 19) TOS #16 20) ST #75 I'm sure many others will have their own lists....but for me, I like the above... I'd love to see other lists.... Edited June 20, 2012 by Blind Owl
jimjum12
....nice lists so far, maybe we can get enough participants to cull out some obvious patterns. These really are some neat books and I like to have a few in my stack. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u

Bronty
looks like I won a couple more.... Wasn't so sure about the tos 14, I don't like the toasty edge, but I put a semi serious bid in anyways since its one of my favorite pre-heroes, and won at the top of my range. The TTA 30 looks nice to me.

marvel_runs
I had an eye on the TTA 30, but was so p'ssed off after seeing the price manipulation on the ST 97 that i didn't bid... seems like someone retracted their bid and then reinstated it. I thought Clink was becomming a serious auction house but looks more like ebay where people can put in bids to feel out how high they need to go to get the high bid... then remove then, then snipe.... Thats just wrong. Makes someone think twice before putting in a $7500 bid or any bid for that matter.
