I hope you didn't buy the one from the mid-west dealer that had it priced at $125 at his booth (wire rack, top shelf, behind plexi pieces). I looked at it early Sat and noticed it had a big dent in the back of the book.'

It was! Oh no! :insane: That's what I get for impulse buying when I'm completely exhausted. It crossed my mind to check both before I bought it and as I was handing it over to CGC, but really just wanted to find some food and sit. That's ok. Good lesson, and I still have a copy for my collection. :grin: But all the others now need to come back as 9.9s to make my money back. lol

 

I'm really glad you noticed, or I would've wondered if CGC might have damaged it en-route. Ok, come ooooonnnn, 7.0! lol

 

I am going to have to check the backsides now.

 

You should always pay as much attention to the back as the front.

 

I was wondering why it was so cheap compared to the other Forever Evil 3Ds in the rest of the room. I asked the dealer to pull it out of the bag and sure enough, big rut middle left, about two inches long. Hopefully CGC misses it and you still get a 9.8 lol

 

Don't think they will not notice it.

I got my slabs back from CGC today, including the Forever Evil #1 3-D..... :ohnoez:

 

There's good news and bad news:

 

GOOD NEWS - my FE 1 got a 9.8!!! That must've been a different book mentioned above. Nothing wrong with the back of this one after all.

 

BAD NEWS - I don't know whether I should keep it in my collection or sell it! :insane:

For anyone counting, I submitted the following 3-D books to CGC at Baltimore Comic-Con in early September:

 

First Evil #1

Green Lantern #23.1 (Relic) [seemed the most difficult to find at the time for Week 1]

Detective #23.1 (Poison Ivy) (2 copies)

Batman: Dark Knight #23.1 (Ventriloquist) (2)

Batman #23.1 (Joker)

Superman #23.1 (Bizarro)

(+ Rachel Rising #1 1st print, but that doesn't apply to this thread)

 

So, 8 copies of 3-D books were submitted. I didn't examine them much at all at the time, as I didn't realize there might be scratches on the covers and whatnot. They just looked pretty. The corners were sharp, and there were no stresses on the spine. That was the extent of my looking them over for CGC-worthiness.

 

All 8 books came back as 9.8. (No 9.9s or 10.0s? What's a fella gotta do?? lol )

Those are lower numbers than I thought... Especially on Joker's Daughter.

 

It really comes down to how much fans see the 3D covers as being part of their run or just a nice to have / cool to own. There are certainly enough to go around in a lot of cases.

Aquaman's were higher then I thought.

Dark Knights were much lower then I thought.

Some of the JLA were much smaller then expected as well.

 

Overall the print run was much lower then I expected which is a good thing for long term value. The books overall are great for the first slabbers in the market. After while prices are going to fall on slabs in my opinion because these books can take punishment that normal comics cant, hence the grades will come in better overall. They are very grade friendly there are going to be ALOT of 9.8s from the % that are actually slabbed.

FYI if anybody cares, I noticed Catwoman #23 went 2nd print with orange/red background and print run just under 7,900 copies. With the new Joker's daughter debuting in it I would think there might be some interest in it.

which is why I think prices might rebound for a while...as there aren't enough for everyone that wants one...some are waiting for the price to drop first...but when the cheap copies are all bought up...
