The sixth season of Agents of SHIELD returned with a bang earlier tonight and when all was said and done, the production made sure to pay tribute to the late Stan Lee. Before the credits rolled, ABC inserted an In Memoriam slide immediately following the show. Lee passed away last November at 95 years old. After his passing, Marvel Television boss Jeph Loeb penned a heartfelt tribute to the late Marvel publisher.

"And it’s why you loved them [Marvel characters], because Stan created a world where he and the rest of the bullpen could play in the Marvel universe," Loeb said. "Which told us youngsters who were going to come in and write and draw for Marvel and eventually make movies and television shows, that we were always a part of the story, and that we could be in the Marvel universe any time we wanted to be."

"[He was] a hero, a brilliant storyteller, a fantastic marketer, and a promoter without peer. He really took hold of the comic book industry and told the world that these aren’t just for children. This is literature."

Finally was able to binge all 6 seasons over the course of a couple weeks. I really enjoyed all of them, although some things started wearing thin (Mack/Yo-Yo) towards the last couple seasons. I thought Season 6 was the weakest thus far, although I did enjoy the scenes in the casino on Kitson.

Following the season 7 premiere, the cast and crew of Agents of SHIELD participated in a virtual chat on ABC's YouTube channel about the show's past and what fans can expect in the final season. During the discussion, the host of the interview asked if fans will see more familiar characters besides just Koenig and Sousa. Series co-creator and co-showrunner Jed Whedon gave the response fans wanted to hear saying, "I think that's a safe bet."

Without explicitly saying what other Marvel characters will appear in Agents of SHIELD season 7, Whedon's response will leave fans wondering who could return. Even though the entire MCU library of characters is technically possible, the best bet is that other characters from the show's past will be who Whedon is referring to. Brett Dalton could return as Grant Ward to bring the original cast back together one more time. Meanwhile, Gabriel Luna's Ghost Rider, Adrianne Palicki's Mockingbird, or J. August Richard's Deathlok are just a few of the more notable characters who could appear again.

There is also the possibility that Agents of SHIELD could get a final cameo from someone involved with the MCU movies. Early seasons of Agents of SHIELD featured multiple characters from the films, but that became less common as Agents of SHIELD moved further away from the MCU continuity. But, another appearance of Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury or Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill would be welcomed. Perhaps Hayley Atwell could even appear as Peggy Carter again and give ABC's two Marvel shows a proper crossover. And as unlikely as it may sound, now that Kevin Feige is overseeing all of Marvel, there could be a small chance that one of the MCU's superheroes could even show up as part of season 7's MCU tie-in. For now, fans will just have to speculate about the possibilities of what characters Agents of SHIELD will bring back.

Since this last post we've started the final episodes.  I don't know about everyone here, but I am enjoying it.  We all know it's the last season and this traveling through time sequences are enjoyable and it seems that they are not taking themselves seriously - this last week was 80s week and they were in full 80s slasher extreme mode - at one point you see a neon shark jumping in the background (get it?).  Anyone else enjoying these last few episodes?

Am I the only one still watching?  I think Sharon is holding out to see if Grant Ward makes a last minute appearance before series end. hm

I'm certain he's going to make an appearance, lol. He's in the promo picture;) I'm watching, not really concentrating, but watching. I'm enjoying Star Girl more.

Funny you should mention Star Girl - I'm digging that one too.  I'm not a big DC fan, but I think they do better TV.

Any Canadians know where to watch the entire finale on-line?

Severe thunderstorms in my area last night, so my satellite was either out or had unwatchable signal quality during broadcast.  There are no repeat airings that I can find.  CTV and the Bell app only have the second half on-line, and I can't find it on Netflix, Crave, or Amazon Prime...

EDIT - Hooray!  CTV now has the first half on-line.  :P

That was a satisfying ending to the series.  It looks like they spent most of their special effects budget on these last two episodes.  I am certainly going to miss the exploits of Coulson and his team.  The only disappointment in the entire series, to me, was the lack of tie ins with the Marvel movies (although the last episodes involved the quantum realm but gave no credit to Hank Pym) - there was an attempt in the first couple of seasons but then it was a complete standalone with the exceptions of some comments here and there.  Overall, I'm glad for the series and for the way it ended.

I watched the first couple of episodes from the first season - much of which I had forgotten.  It had so much potential that the show could have developed.  It was a satisfying ending but it could have been so much more.

Bumping this - I'm nearing the end of season 4 (Agents of Hydra storyline) and it's pretty awesome stuff. Hoping that season 5 onward continues to be as well-written as this season.

Getting towards the end of season 4, (almost) everyone has returned from the Framework, and I'm impressed by the acting chops of the cast. Fitz, especially, as I hadn't been a big fan of his character in earlier season - he really comes out as a person struggling with all the bad things he did in the Framework. The emotional gravitas the cast brings to the storyline sells the show.

I know I'm way behind, but I'm wondering if there was much fan reaction to the fact many of these cast members weren't worked into newer Marvel shows? It's kind of shame to waste Phil Coulsen's character (unless he's dead and I don't know it yet). I'd say 80% of the cast could easily be serviceable in other shows. Their acting is easily good enough - and in some cases better - to keep up with their big-screen-to-small-screen actor counterparts (looking at you, Secret Invasion).

I enjoyed it - time travel silliness or not.

A very guilty pleasure

We can only dream of new stuff being as entertaining, and for so long.

It's great in binge mode - and interspersing with the movies to get the 'real time' interactions with the MCU

Great show, badly missed.

Gotta keep this on the front page. I'm onto Season 5 and I'm at the 'Quake: Destroyer of Worlds' nickname portion of the show. Continues to be awesome, and WOW - the Kree are diiiiiiiiiiiiiicks.

Also, was surprised to hear the concept of the Multiverse was mentioned in one of the earlier episodes. hm

After news of the actress might (did) pose for a naughty film,It seems that her career faded.

Shame because Quake had potential as a spin-off
