Read WATIW #3 over the weekend

 

Thanks for reminding me why I didn't finish WATIW, Ryan :eyeroll:

 

I was excited, however, to find a Warlock Collectors edition #1 in a dollar bin this weekend (reprints Strange Tales 178 - 180). I've actually never read Jim Starlins 1st Warlock story, so I'm really looking forward to it. ST 178 has always been a cool cover; I'll probably end up hunting down a copy for the PC.

 

I picked up a ST178 recently in 9.0 (ish) for a sweet deal.

Very nice!! I need to pick up a #2 to go with mine as well, but I'm a blue label guy!

 

What I love about my #1 is it's an old school sig in pen on the first page! :)

 

I'm honestly more of a blue label guy too. But as a huge Jim Starlin fan I couldn't pass this up.

So I finished all 6 books.

 

 

1. I'm new, so what confused me was "Bearded Thor"?

2. I like how Wolverine was killed. lol Gumby comes to mind

3. Warlocks friends and how they came to be, confused me as well.

4. I liked the ads for all the videos games from the 90's lol

5. Warlock knew the whole time, history was repeating itself, and it was all a game?

6. The epic battle panels were wicked cool, I kept thinking the whole time "I wonder if any of these pages are for sale"

7. I thought Vision was green and yellow? lol Trying to distinguish Vision from SS was hard.

8. I really enjoyed the story a lot, it kept my attention the whole time.

If I remember correctly, the original Vision was disassembled by the government and then put back together. It happened in the Vision Question storyline in Avengers West Coast. Not sure why they made him white and not his original colors though.

(2) Gumby is actually a hidden character in the Marvel universe

(3) Are you talking about the Celestial characters?

(4) The 'retro' game ads were cool

(5) I think this is where we can overthink it, but my guess is that there are multiple universes and a different scenario can play out, so Warlock didn't know.

(6) Splash pages rock in these issues

(7) Yeah, we discussed the Vision thing and thanks for someone answering

#3 - I think he means Gamora (that's who that was, right?) and Pip...

 

I don't really know much about the characters either and it was strange watching them get into a car accident and hide out in a hotel room while Warlock grows in a cocoon. ???

Yeah this. One minute it's telling this epic tale of other worldly beings and epic celestial battles, the next page you see 3 random people coming out of a bar talking about a robbery and drunk. I was like wtf?
