I really like the way LB Cole utilizes snow in some of his covers -- like the Christmas ones or Catman 31.

Hi, Jamie, how ya been? hi.gif

Hey BBB, looks like you have this one already!, but here it is anyhow...Popular Teenagers #15.

The snow effect is so cool...it really looks 3-D. Andy's Catman #31 is another great example of this trick...

Hi! hi.gif I've been good, and you? I've been chilling on buying new Cole covers, and trying to save a few pennies for SDCC this year! 1st time! laugh.gif

Popular Teenagers #15 is a great one. I got my copy for $12 at WW Philly a few years ago. I LOVE the romance covers...

I just created this, so I hope it works. Here's a bunch of pics I took a while ago of LB Cole covers I own (and the 1 Wings Comic I own, #90). It's not all of them, just a sample. Lemme know if this works ok:

Enjoy (I hope)! Maybe in the future I'll try to take ones that come out brighter.

It came out good - nice set of books! thumbsup2.gif

Thanks! I used gmail's free photo-hosting deal. And I think those are maybe 1/3 of my Cole Covers. I'll try to get better pics up soon! Plus, I've gotten a few new ones lately. wink.gif

Nice group. You don't see his Romance covers as nearly as often as his other stuff. I especially like the True to Life 13.

Thanks. I'm a HUGE fan of the romance books because

- They are cheaper

- there are more of them (it seems)

- the stories in them are great!

The TTL 13 is in good shape, except for some writing in the middle. The #14 is in great shape though! I love that one!

sumo.gif Darn tootin'! I need a # 10 for my collection (which I see p. has mad.gif) but someone don't have one yet. I fear I passed on it a couple of times on eBay forgetting that was the issue I need sorry.gif893crossfingers-thumb.gif soon ...

That is a really nice copy. I was an underbidder on it (this is the Heritage one, right?) even though I have a pretty good (not as nice as this one) copy already.

Nice looking 6.5 - and one of Cole's best Star covers thumbsup2.gif. Nice to see you buy something besides Timelys poke2.gif

I have always felt the cover was more of a reason to break out this book in the Guide than the Disbrow art.

I am pretty sure that one was through eBay. I was tracking it, but decided to pass due to lack of funds. I think it came from the same seller as my Spook 27. Sclark or something?

October's correct this was an ebay win and I do think its a REAL nice 6.5!

What did the Heritage copy go for and what grade?

After 29 years of collecting comics (off and on....mostly on) and a week of admiring the covers in this thread and reading the stories you guys have posted, Annihilus has broken down and bought his first (and second) ever Golden Age books.....both L.B. Cole covers.

The very first exposure to L.B. Cole (and really, comic collecting as a hobby) came with the purchase of the OSPG #11 with the Cole feature in it, so it's only appropriate that the first foray into the Golden Age be Cole. Always thought his covers were the bomb, but for some reason never really even thought about collecting them.

So, hope you'll forgive the lame-o first post here in the Gold Comics forum from a noob that doesn't know a whole lot about this era of comics, but it's kind of exciting to take a plunge into a part of the hobby that I never really paid much attention to for some reason. It's pretty obvious that the upper grade issues will be out of my reach, but if there was ever a person that is now determined to find a bunch of those Blue Bolt Weird Tales (how cool are those?), Mask & Ghostly Weird Stories books in a G/VG grade.....it's this guy. You guys have some great books in your collections....it should be a blast to try to get my own slice of L.B. Cole heaven. I've never really had grails in my comic collecting....until now. Thanks for the inspiration to all of you.

Below are the first two Golden Age books that have found homes in casa Annihilus. The Horrors of Mystery is a bit faded, unfortunately (but hey, $20). The Ghostly Weird Stories has some creases but is still pretty colorful and a cool cover. We've got a smallish convention (FallCon) coming in October in the Twin Cities and it should be fun to root around and see if there are any floating around there.

The books scanned below have already been posted here in this thread, so hope you don't mind me posting these just so I can feel part of the Cole club.

If any of you experts decide you want to part with any lower grade copies any time, you know who to call!
