Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?

One of my favorite Pocket noir covers I love both versions posted... Yours, with the 154M printed is a stamp in time... but the movie tie-in has its own mojo.

Next time you see 8 copies at once on Ebay of a vintage pb, think about that number 🤣

You have nailed it. My copy is the 4th printing from March 1947. I noticed your copy has an orange background in the circle around the kangaroo, where the 47 edition has a red circle. Makes me wonder if the color changed for each edition.

I think it was random but they moved from mostly orange to mostly red in '47 from what I can see. Here's two first prints from July 1947, one orange, one red.

And here's a first and a second print from 1946, both orange. I think every circle pocket I have before 1947 is orange. Sometime later they started discarding the colored circle and the kangaroo was just imposed on the background color on most of the ones I have.

Just in today, Simak's first novel Cosmic Engineers, adapted from his original story in Astounding Science Fiction (Aug 1939). Pat has this iconic novel, in hard back format. Perhaps he will share it here again. This version, the first PB printing, was published by Paperback library in 1964.
