2014 March Madness Comic Grading Tournament - Seeding Round

439 posts in this topic

So has anyone answered how this is being scored?

One guy is 17-4 and the other is 15-2 - who is better? What about 16-1 vs. 14-0?

More wins, wins minus losses, winning percentage? (shrug)

From the first post:

This round is to establish a won-loss record for each team so the bracket pairings can be set.

From that I would venture to guess that the highest winning percentage gets top seed and then ranks accordingly below that.

Can someone explain this scoring for me?

"Bonus= The third spot on grade will be granted 1 bonus win, fourth= 2 bonus wins, fifth through tenth= 3 bonus wins."

3rd book in the order? or 3rd right grade? etc...

A spot on guess normally gets 3 points. If you have 3 or more total spot on guesses, then each one past the 2nd correct guess will be awarded extra points:

1st spot on = 3 points

2nd spot on = 3 points

3rd spot on = 4 points (3+1)

4th spot on = 5 points (3+2)

5th spot on = 6 points (3+3)

So if you had 4 spot on guesses those would be worth 15 points (3+3+4+5).

Thanks! (thumbs u

My iPhone quick picks

Action - 1.8 Correct

Green Lantern - 4.0. Correct

Lois Lane - 7.5. Correct

MSH - 6.0 1.0 off

Red Headed Girl - 9.6 0.2 off

X-Factor 5 - 9.4 0.2 off

X-Factor 6 - 9.4 Correct

X-Men - 7.0 1.0 off

So

4*3=12 + 3 bonus = 15 wins

2*2= 4 wins

2*-1 = 2 losses

So 19-2 ???

Key

Action - 1.8

Green Lantern - 4.0

Lois Lane - 7.5

MSH - 5.0

Red Headed Girl - 9.4

X-Factor 5 - 9.6

X-Factor 6 - 9.4

X-Men - 6.0

So how does the scoring work in the head-to-head rounds?

6. Your score will be tallied based on the sum of the points awarded for the grades assigned each book based on the chart below:

Spot on= 20 points

.2 or closer = 18 points

.5 or closer= 15 points

.7 or closer= 10 points

1 or closer = 7 points.

1.2 or closer= 5 points.

1.5 or closer= 2 points

2 or closer = 0 points

Over 2 grades off= Technical Foul -5 points

Sums are good, and I was just making sure the seeding method wasn't being used, as it can't work in head-to-head.

Some guy with a 12-2 record who missed every single book could hypothetically eliminate someone with a 27-3 record and 6 bullseyes.

The main thing to remember with a scoring system like this is the extremely low and extremely high grade books are where the real money is, as you can gain or lose a LOT of points, while anything between 2.0 and 9.0 is much less important and fewer point options.

I think I'm 18-1, but I could be wrong. Not bad for trying to grade from my phone when my internet was out. But what the heck did I see in Lois Lane? I was way off. :tonofbricks:

That Lois Lane reminds me of the now infamous Tomahawk book in the Nik Memorial grading contest.

I honestly want to go up against someone who got the Lois Lane grade spot-on. Blind people is easy to beat.

You got it. See you in the final :cloud9:
