2014 March Madness Comic Grading Tournament - Seeding Round

Wow! I undergraded 6 of the 8 books but by just a little. Maybe I've tightened my grading a little TOO much. hm

I undergraded on all, but was pretty close on most. If I ever start selling comics, methinks I'd be pretty popular. And broke.

I think I'm 18-1, but I could be wrong. Not bad for trying to grade from my phone when my internet was out. But what the heck did I see in Lois Lane? I was way off. :tonofbricks:

That Lois Lane reminds me of the now infamous Tomahawk book in the Nik Memorial grading contest.

I honestly want to go up against someone who got the Lois Lane grade spot-on. Blind people is easy to beat.

I resemble that remark. :kidaround:

I undergraded most of them too. I'm definitely not popular but I am definitely broke. ;)

What was the deal with the Red Headed Girl? It looked like a coverless comic to me.

Not everyone got what was going on with that book. Does someone want to explain what is happening with the book?

Two back covers?

Double cover with one cover inside out?

EDIT (or single cover with cover inside out)

^^

Tricky! Thanks for the explanation. (worship)

So is two grades off 1 or 2 loses?

I think it's:

Spot on - 3 wins

1 GI off - 2 wins

2 GI off - 1 loss

3 or more GI off - 2 losses

(thumbs u

Not necessarily.

Follow the rules posted:

Spot on= 3 wins

Within .5= 2 wins

Not within .5 = 1 loss

Not within 1= 2 losses

Bonus= The third spot on grade will be granted 1 bonus win, fourth= 2 bonus wins, fifth through tenth= 3 bonus wins.

I hope this is right. It makes the ability to judge high grade (9.0-10.0) much less important. And that's probably my weakness.

+1, it also makes me 17-0 for the seeding round.

Can someone explain this scoring for me?

"Bonus= The third spot on grade will be granted 1 bonus win, fourth= 2 bonus wins, fifth through tenth= 3 bonus wins."

3rd book in the order? or 3rd right grade? etc...

A spot on guess normally gets 3 points. If you have 3 or more total spot on guesses, then each one past the 2nd correct guess will be awarded extra points:

1st spot on = 3 points

2nd spot on = 3 points

3rd spot on = 4 points (3+1)

4th spot on = 5 points (3+2)

5th spot on = 6 points (3+3)

So if you had 4 spot on guesses those would be worth 15 points (3+3+4+5).

So has anyone answered how this is being scored?

One guy is 17-4 and the other is 15-2 - who is better? What about 16-1 vs. 14-0?

More wins, wins minus losses, winning percentage? (shrug)

sckao is helping me with the scoring spreadsheet. He can explain it better than I can.
