there is a tearing on the back (near the top) it goes back into a few of the pages - i'm wondering if this is some production tear?

Sadly, I don't think this is a production issue as I have two of these and neither exhibit that trait. Happy to see you are also chasing a good version of this book - I think after Guardians Of The Galaxy it may go off (my fingers are crossed that Him/Adam Warlock will make an appearance).

If the cover lies flat, I’d say about FN+, but at least a FN.

Without that back cover damaged I would have dared a FVF.

 

Very similar to my copy, which have slightly different defects.

 

As far as the story goes, I keep being convinced it is not so relevant as far Warlock history goes, but if one loves Thor and the cover, go for it.
