Just got this book off the bay

The book does have a tear on the front cover right above Thor's helmet. And another tear along the spine on the back cover. Plus I think there may be green color touch along the spine where Loki is and it looks like an attempt was made to remove the resto.

I just had to get it when I saw this on the 1st page

Thanks for your opinions in advance

Yeah the color touch was a concern. Could not see it on the auction photo since it was in a bag. The interior photo is not bleed through it shows the holes where some of the resto was removed. Tempted to see if I can submit it to get the rest removed.

I'm just wondering how much the grade will drop if the resto is removed

I think removing the color touch might destroy the spine too much. Ask Matt Nelson or Zeman.

It might be that if the color touch can't be removed you should go the other way and have the MOST amount of what would be considered Slight resto done.

I think right now it's a 3.5, but with a little more Slight resto I think this might go up to a 5.0 or 5.5.

Great book!!!!!! That sig looks to be legit!

3.5 PLOD! With a Kirby signature '10' (worship)

You graded the Kirby sig a 10 (thumbs u

The funny thing is there is a company now grading signatures and giving them a rating. How do you grade a sig. On how fluent and legible it is. Marks off if the sig is done with a rushed hand :roflmao:

I could understand if it was checked to see if it was legit or a forgery but to grade it.

Ohh by the way nice book.

Shame about the colour touch but that signature makes up for that +1000 (thumbs u

9 out of 10 times CGC grading will ad value to your books. I don't believe this is one of those times. The books best asset is the Kirby auto. I might do some research and see how it compares to others. If the seller lied about the ct there's always a chance the signature is not legit as well. If you can find some good comps and you feel it could be authenticated by a non-CGC 3rd party specialist, that would enhance the marketability of your book far more than a 3.0 purple label that states "Jack Kirby written on first page". Just my humble opinion, buddy.
