Zeros are so much better than -2. If I sat out the two tough rounds I'd be up +4.

I started out in the red with big undergrades. Then I started multiplying my guesses by 2 and submitting that which helped.

 

Now I just grade the links that are posted instead of looking at the scans and have improved my score immensely.

Summary of Round 8

 

Round 8 was a good round to collect points. There were double bullseyes a plenty, 16 in total. Importantly, 7 of the top 17 players hit that mark, which truly highlights the consistency of this pack.

 

While TheGeneral stumbles with a mere 6 points, zuckuss2003, with his eyes on the prize, took sole possession of FIRST PLACE!

 

Other notables would be Thanos88 and Hado taking the biggest leaps by moving 15 positions up and Nikelspot drops 25 spots due to not getting his grades in. Imagine if he did get his grades in, and where he would be...

 

Honorable mention goes to bottom-dweller, rookie extraordinaire, Zalgardos for scoring double bullseyes and pulling himself out of the basement.

 

This is it, folks! We now see the final curve ahead. Round 9 is upon us and these treasured points couldn't be more valuable than they are right now.

Has anybody noticed that the WC #94 that we graded in the tournament has a "crease" or a line of some sort that starts at the 'S' in wings and curves across to the right edge of the front cover? This was not production related as it does not appear on any other copies that I researched.

 

I'm dumbfounded by the inconsistency of CGC lately. I understand that the grading is subjective but couldn't they at least try to be a little more consistent? This is just a fun tournament but my faith in CGC is slowly sliding down the hill and it's picking up steam quickly.

Not that it already hasn't been mentioned, but remember that you are grading from giant scans, several times the actual size of the books. That means all flaws are magnified, and look worse than they really are.

But in my defence I compared a large scan to a large scan and not just one but several. All books presented similar in size so none of the defects were over exaggerated but none of the books showed the "crease" or line marking that shows up on the tournament copy?

 

Just wondered if anyone caught that?
