Bosco685
HOLY! People are posting fake stories of Caucasian movie-goers attending Black Panther and being attacked. Social media trolls are lying about black people assaulting 'Black Panther' movie-goers Quote "Black Panther" was meant to bring people together — but trolls are using the milestone movie to divide people. A number of social media users have shared images of actual women who have been assaulted and wrote that the incidents happened at "Black Panther" movies at the hands of young black people — which have been proved to be false. In one image, a user shared an actual photo of former White House staffer Rob Porter's ex-wife sporting a black eye with the caption: "Went to the #BlackPanther premier tonight and my wife was assaulted. Three black women approached us and one said 'This movie ain't for you white b****' and then attacked her. Security escorted us to the parking lot and we left. We just wanted to see a movie." The account was clearly made up considering the photo is known to be of Colbie Holderness. Another graphic image shows a bloodied teen with the caption: "i went to see #BlackPanther with my gf and a black teenager shouted 'u at the wrong theater' and smashed a bottle on her face." Probably the same turds that haunt DC movies so as to detract from any positive that can be realized.

That's really sad about that. A few people I am going to see this with Tuesday raised concerns about this, and asked me if it be safe. I told yes it be safe because it is fake news. I hope this fake news now doesn't hurt the box office.

The black culture is embracing this movie as their own so you're going to get some trolls trying to tear them down. I've seen thousands of quotes from people that don't know diddly about the MCU that are seeing this movie, I doubt it has any effect on the box office. My son and daughter are both half-black/latino and I am taking them to this no matter what. I have now people telling me to be careful. I said it is all fake news and not to worry about it. Still I was taken aback when I heard about this and shocked at some of the photos they have shown. I'm not sure I agree with you on no effect to the box office, as there will be those that are easily tricked by such stories. I doubt it will be large enough to worry about this being a massive hit. Crazy motivations!

May make a few hesitant right away but if you planned on seeing this movie I'm betting you'll watch it at some point in the next few weeks. Initial BO may be effected slightly but I'm not buying that even. Not saying I cant be wrong but it's so stupid I don't think people will fall for it. Or better yet since you seem easy to forget things...those that created the fake 'I'm a former Warner Brothers employee and Wonder Woman is a pending bomb - and we all know it' social media trick. I know. Hardly the same in purpose detracting from a movie. Right? Just one is using violent stories to do the trick. The other used false information. I went in with low expectations. I was expecting it to have the same tired trope of the villain being a mirror image of the hero. I thought it would fare as well as Doctor Strange (splashy trailer, but an average film). I was wrong. The film easily surpassed my expectations. The cast is superb and the film blends action with moments of levity. I think it's the most important film Marvel has made to date, not from a plot perspective, but because of the socio-political commentary. Seriously, it's a great film and I'd venture to say it is in/near the top 5 Marvel films (Civil War, Winter Soldier, GotG, Avengers, Iron Man). comic_memories, Bosco685 and ComicConnoisseur 2

That's the most impressive item that is probably driving people that attended already strongly encouraging attendance. You can tell it influenced them heavily. And no - I don't want to know why just yet. Let me find out.

All righty then. via Imgflip Meme Generator comic_memories and ComicConnoisseur
paperheart
Even at their best, superhero movies are typically disposable entertainment (GOTG, Thor: Rag), when they transcend the conventions they can be sublime. The common thread seems to be a truly memorable villain; MBJ's Killmonger joins the ranks of Ledger's Joker and Molina's Doc Ock. Until the last 30 minutes, it felt like more like a Shakespearean tragedy than a superhero movie. Coogler absolutely nailed it.
