chezmtghut
Superman to Guest Star on Supergirl Whoa, talk about a huge announcement from the executive producers at Supergirl! The "World's-First-Superhero-Sized" Elephant in the room is finally going to be filled! To welcome Supergirl to The CW in the first two episodes of season 2, Superman himself will appear on the show. No, not like he has before with glimpses and boots but a real actor to portray the Man of Steel! The Executive Producing Team has this to say through a CW release: Greg [berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” says executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape! Come on, make it Tom Welling! +1000000000000 I really hope Tom will play Supes also. Regardless, this is good news for the show. Bosco685
Who Will Play Superman On Supergirl? It's a daunting task, casting Superman - they need an actor that can carry that gravitas, especially since he's already been "built up" on the series through his tertiary interactions with Kara. He needs to compliment, but not overpower Melissa Benoist and her screen presence. He needs to be memorable, but not take over the show; when he leaves, it'll still be called "Supergirl" after all. While actor Tom Welling, who played the young Clark Kent on Smallville is certainly in the mix, especially in fans' eyes, we're taking a look at five other actors who we think could suit up in the S for The CW's next take on the Man of Steel. This 38 year-old actor is another almost-Superman, and another Magic Mike alum - look, that movie had a lot of very good looking and bulky men. The star of Chuck and White Collar, Matt Bomer has played Superman before - at least his voice. He voiced the character of Superman/Clark Kent in the animated film Superman: Unbound in 2013. He was also nearly cast as Superman back in 2003, when what was eventually Superman Returns was in the hands of Brett Ratner. He screen-tested, but it wound up moving to Bryan Singer as director and Brandon Routh as the star. His charm is undeniable, and the highest level of our five candidates. krighton
Routh is definitely out after his goofball acting on Legends. I can't take him serious as Superman ever again.
Bosco685
Supergirl Season 2 Adds Lex Luthor's Sister, Maggie Sawyer, Snapper Carr, and More Supergirl is staffing up for the move to The CW and season two with five more new characters, including two series regulars and three recurring roles. The new characters pull heavily from the pages of DC Comics, and imply some major shifts in the dynamic of the show's current lineup. The two series regulars are Lena Luthor and Nick Farrow. Lena is the sister of Lex Luthor, leaving Metropolis for National City to "get out from under the shadow" of her brother, as TV Line reports. Her age range for casting is listed as 25-35, and she's listed as sexy, smart, and determined. Farrow, meanwhile, is a new "leading man" type and the son of a famous reporter who joins CatCo. "In hanging out with Kara, the hero in Nick might finally come out," reads the official description, but no one named Farrow exists at DC Comics. Hopefully Lena's presence doesn't mean Max Lord is leaving National City as its resident ambiguously-evil genius. Lastly is Maggie, an "out and proud detective" which points directly to Maggie Sawyer. In the pages of DC Comics, Sawyer worked in both the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit and the Gotham City Police Department. As an out lesbian, Sawyer dated and became engaged to Kate Kane, Batwoman, in the New 52 relaunch of DC Comics. On the show, she'll be working for the Science Police, an agency dealing with metahuman and extra-terrestrial threats that sounds like (if it's anything like the comics version) it will be a more openly-operating unit than the DEO. Maggie Sawyer? Could we see Batwoman?

Bosco685
Tom Welling's 'Section 13' Is Not Moving Forward On Monday, when it was revealed that Superman will appear in the first two episodes of Supergirl's second season, people everywhere began to wonder which actor would don the red cape next. So far, the top choice has been the former Smallville star Tom Welling. One potential hang up was that Welling might be too busy working on Section 13, a drama series project he was producing and starring in for CBS; however, TV Line is reporting that the network is "not moving forward" with it, so Welling's dance card freed up. Season 2 of Supergirl is headed to The CW this fall and will air on Mondays at 8PM.

Bosco685
Get your Action Comics #1 now. Tyler Hoechlin To Play Superman On Supergirl Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin has been cast in the iconic role of Superman/Clark Kent on The CW's Supergirl. As previously announced, the character of Superman will first be seen visiting his cousin Kara in National City at the beginning of the series’ second season. "Greg [berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said. "We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character." This isn't Hoechlin's first go-'round as a comic book character; he gained notoriety as Tom Hanks's son in the film adaptation of Max Allan Collins's Road to Perdition. He was also briefly rumored to be in the running to play Batman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice...although it's likely those were just rumors, since he's obviously not close to the age range they ended up using for Batman.
