I want to send to CGC for grading - what should I expect? Will the Marvel chipping bring it way down, or is it to be expected with books around this time period. All opinions welcomed and appreciated.

It is so incredibly unlikely, but check the last page of the book to see if it has been added.

 

I saw your copy and it reminds me so much of one I sold to a dealer in 1993. It was missing the last page and he was going to send it to Susan C. to get it restored.

 

Like I said, I haven't seen the book in over 20 years and I would be REALLY surprised if it was the same book, but there is something about the lower right crease and the marvel chipping pattern (I know, marvel chipping looks like marvel chipping).

 

Just thought it might be worth taking a look.

Hey , thanks for the heads up. But Iwent back and took a good look, and it's definitely a fully intact book.

I really thought the chipping would make it a 4.5/5 , so it's nice to have many guesses come in a full point higher then my guess. I suppose it's not such a big deal.

That FC looks 6.5 (CGC has graded books that high with chipping). BC is slightly less nice. I'll say 5.5 overall. Nice one C.

BTW, I've never seen a Spidey 1 with a NOV 62 date stamp. This copy must have been in a stack of marvels that arrived a little early. Most Spidey 1s arrived at the newsstand around Dec 10, 1962

It may get a 6.5.....especially if it has it's gloss left..... it would be unlikely to fetch full GPA due to the chipping..... but still quite a bit more than 20 years ago. GOD BLESS....

I am at 6.0 because of the chipping and overall appearance,

but I could certainly see a 6.5
