in this case, I changed from fanning the books out (called spine-ing) to shingling stacks of some copies...all alpha numerical

transition into slabbed bronze from raw...

into silver age keys....

then some golden age....

I used to display 8 feet of silver age slabs and 8-12 feet of golden age slabs...

 

as the market changes, so must the convention dealers...

 

I now have 8 feet of modern-bronze raw keys, 4 feet of bronze keys, 4 feet of silver keys and 4 feet of gold keys...

wash, rinse , repeat...a 14 hour days is done and off to dinner and bed...only to get up next morning (typically day 3 or sunday) and do it all over again...

 

the display gets tweaked as books sell from day to day...

so, after another long day, the con gets ready to come to a close...and the mad scramble to get your van in line to get to the back docks begins...

 

we typically have one member go line up in the staging area about 1 hour before con ends, that way, we are among the first 50+ that get in to unload...

 

and so the "break down" begins...

and unlike at the beginning of the con, where you can spread out, this all has to be done in the tight confines of your booth...

once all wall books are back in their respective boxes, the tearing down of the gridwall begins....

 

all the while, a member is lidding all the long boxes and getting them staged to be loaded back in the van... it is 15 minutes after con has closed at this point...

tape the lids down (helps if you dump the hand truck not to have to pick up sprawled out books on the floor...again, from experience!)
