Re the XM at 9.6: there's a bend at the spine. Have a look at the BC, about 1/4 height

 

There are two on the front cover. One is colour breaking, and the other isn't.

 

Seeing the second is using an image program, right?

So translated to English, there is a serious cover bend about 1/4 of the way down the spine?

 

I'll type slowly for you.

 

There is a cover bend (not serious - the book is a 9.6) 1/4 of the way up the spine. Height is measured from the bottom.

Actually, no. You can see the bend in the large scan. In the black, just above the yellow circle. Exactly where the purple area is closest to the spine.

 

The other colour breaking tick is by the lower staple, at the bottom arm of the staple.

Yeah, I saw that one (by Cyclop's head) but I'm talking about the non-color breaking spine bend.

I wasn't sure if that was colour breaking or not. I thought it was a NCB bend. Sometimes the scanner light will reflect on a bend and make it look like its colour breaking when it's not.

 

Yeah, some of these books are tough to grade by scan and you really need them in hand to do a proper job. These contests are a lot like poker, 50% skill and 50% luck, and you will never win without a high percentage of both.

Thank You So Much to thirdgreenham and to sckao for having this contest!! This is the first grading contest I've ever been in and it's been a lot of fun so far. I can't wait to see the Overall Final Results!!

 

When the Contest started I was hoping to finish in The top 25 and I was also hoping to finish in the Top 5 for Most Consistent + / - One Grade Off Catagory. As long as I don't have a total melt down in the last round I will have accomplished both of my goals for the contest.

 

Sense I can't win the over all grading contest I hope I can finish 1st or stay in 2nd Place for the Most Consistent + / - One Grade Off Catagory.
