US vs UK editions

242 posts in this topic

Anyone notice the ST110 7.5 UK edition that just sold 10 days ago?

It sold for $5300!!!!!

If my math is correct that's basically 90% of the 12 month average of the cent copy.

I'm telling you guys..... there is a pence market right now!

I missed that, where did it sell?

me too? what obscure site was it on?

You're comparing one very recent sale of a pence copy with 3 copies of the regular cents copy, the last of which sold over eight months ago?

I'm sorry, but no.

I do think there is a big market for pence books, and I also believe the gap between cents books are narrowing fast.

You're right but considering that the last 7.0 cents sale just four weeks earlier was for $4541, it's still a very good result for the pence copy.

Whatever your opinion on UK pence issues - there are far less in comparison to US cents. Especially high grade early silver age are extremely rare. I'm sure the market will grow in particular with 9d issues, the issues after decimalization (bronze) I don't think we ever garner much value.

I have 8.0 st 110 pence copy. What do you guys think it's worth?

If it's slabbed then I'd give it an approximate value of around $5500 but the results when you sell it could be significantly different in either direction.

Hoping it would be higher since the 7.5 sold for $5300

It could well sell for higher but as has been discussed in this thread, pence copies values vary more than cents copies so I was just trying to give you a realistic expectation.

Fascinating. On the cent comics that were stamped, were they stamped in the US or in the UK? If they were stamped in the UK why didn't Marvel just keep printing everything with cents and have the UK keep stamping. It seems it would have been easier for the printer.

DC did exactly that, distributing them through Thorpe & Porter, who simply placed an ink price stamp on them.
