Comiclink Winter Auction

146 posts in this topic

Greetings all,

anyone following this auction? Not seeing much discussion about the offerings. There are a few pieces I'm interested which I'm sure I'll be outbid on.

OH, and there's a GORGEOUS Alex Ross tpb cover painting that someone will get a great deal on ... (hint hint)

Yeah, no talk whatsoever for some reason. Wraps up in a couple nights. Here's some of the key ones:

Iron Man #1 splash, currently $15,250:

Warlock #15 splash, currently $12,000:

This one blows me away: Captain Marvel #31 page 7:

http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fbids.asp&id=1098145

And this one absolutely knocked me out. Had no idea it would go this high (not that I'm real familiar with Kane/Greene prices) as there's no Zatanna face shot. Small image of Atom, insignificant villain, Greene inks... but man that Zatanna shot is IMO so well done and so dramatic that this page is just killer. Atom #19 chapter splash:

Personally, I hoped the Kane Cap cover would stay under 15k. Looks like it will easily crack 20k, though. A few items are tempting. Would have loved that JLA page with the Huntress and JSA, but the price is already up there.

Speaking of up there, how high do you guys think on the Iron Fist ?? Would have been in there up to 15k, but my goodness...

That's not a bid, that's one bid below reserve. Clink sets it there (with the * next to it) so people know that the next bid hits reserve.

That's not actually someone willing to pay that much.

At that number you're better off making a run away from that one.

There are so many more memorable pages from those early story parts that would be worth throwing serious coin at.

Man oh man...can you imagine the number on this if it were large art instead of small.

Pretty great piece.

In due time, everything shows up eventurally. This one's already kicked out of the back of the endzone.

Oh jeez, thanks. I never really watched comiclink much. I knew it got bumped to right below reserve, but mistakenly assumed the high bidder was willing to go that high.

It was at $1400 right before the bump IIRC. I figured pre auction it may go for 1.5-2K (but I'm not really knowledgeable of that market)

Agreed. However, I believe this could be the piece that marks the turning point in value perception of 'trashy' early-90s OA.

That last one is just 1 increment below the reserve, not a bid up price.

If nothing else it will shake the tree of death of superman art and art will start coming to market

I think that happened when Liefield New Mutants/X-Force pages started hitting 4 figures regularly.

lets get some death in the family pages in the mix :banana:

Here's what I'd love to see consigned for a future auction for an opportunity to by, which I've not seen much of in the marketplace for sale:

Keith Giffen - Legion of Superheroes #285-300+ (incl. The Great Darkness Saga)

Keith Giffen - Flash #306-313 - Doctor Fate

Marshall Rogers - Detective Comics 471-476 w/ Steve Englehart and Terry Austin

Paul Smith - Doctor Strange

John Romita Jr / Bob Layton - Iron Man

Where are all the Paul Smith Dr. Strange pages? I swear, I've seen more Simonson Thor pages on the market than Smith Strange pages.
