There are. 9.8, ASM 667 Dell'otto, and Walking Dead #1, 9.9 to name a couple... ;)

-J.

I'd be curious to see if either of them could get that range currently.

Absolutely. A 9.9 WD #1 just sold for $12k yesterday, and a 9.8 ASM 667 sold for $7300 last month (first copy to come up in 3.5 years). (thumbs u

-J.

Curious, are there any 10.0 WD #1 or is 9.9 the highest?

9.9 Is the highest grade, and there are 24 copies in that grade (as compared to 28 copies total for the ASM 667 Dell'otto).

Don't need it anymore, though. Looks like DCBS came through and it will be in my next shipment. :cloud9:

Exactly. Went as high as $182.50 but there are no takers for $179.99 BIN (w/free ship) and later sales are lower. Current auction is $21.50 with 3 days to go. Meanwhile, it was already at $30-50 with 4-5 days left on auction a couple days after the CBSI article was originally posted.

Learn to think independently and separate yourself from the herd.

cBSi is by definition THE HERD.

CBSI is really more like the shepherd. The followers who immediately jump on ebay and drive prices up are the herd.

this is why I only buy books that I'm sure absolutely no one else will want, so no one can accuse me of being a sheep.

Ever hear of the term "first to market"?

This is not uncommon, with ANY book. Let's look at a current example.

Renew your Vows #2 Campbell variant.

People were buying this for $60-85 BEFORE it came out:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=renew%20vows%202%20variant&rt=nc&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo=63&_udhi

It was released yesterday and is selling between $24-50 now.

Umm, that was exactly my point? Early bird and all. I've just been following the search planning to get one if it ever hit my target price. Now I don't have to bother.

Besides, there's a different hot pick now. :D

Yes, well that happens with every book for the most part.

I highly doubt it would've reached that high if it was never featured in the YouTube vid. It was kinda flying under the radar and looking at sales numbers, Thunderbolts is probably teetering on the edge of cancellation. Looking forward to #8, though. I believe Black Widow will be making an appearance. Jon Malin's art, though... *sigh* Not a fan... (shrug)

Interesting article on CBSI with some points that should be driven home.

If this week's CBSI article is the first time you've heard of a specific comic, then you're probably already too late to the game. That said, I find reading months or years old articles to be pretty good for finding interesting stuff for the PC. The feeding frenzy by the site's avid followers would've already cooled off and prices are back to more sane levels in line with normal market demand. :D

Excerpt from http://comicbookinvest.com/2016/12/14/subject-23-pump-dump-aka-pnd/

This is a highly unstable market!

Just because you read an article about people investing in comics rather than the stock market doesn’t mean you should too. Today’s hot book can be tomorrow’s discount bin filler. Get used to it. It’s been that way for as long as the hobby has existed. It’ll stay that way long after all the fair weather collectors/investors have gone.

Everyone wants guarantees and stability. The safety of black and white concrete can’t lose investments. That’s not going to happen, this market is way to volatile. It’s driven by people who will tell you anything to flip a book. If there’s a direct financial gain for the person telling you about it, you need to research beyond that.

I’ve said time and time again, flipping/selling/investing in comics is a predatory game. You want to play, it’s gotta be a two-way street. You’ll win as many as you lose.

Learn to think independently and separate yourself from the herd.

Fact is nobody was holding a gun to your head to buy anything in the 90’s or today… So if you paid too much for a book there’s no one to blame but yourself. Information and intelligent makes a market stronger. Do your own research and don’t just follow the pack.

If money’s your only aim, do us all a favor, just cut bait and run. This is a gamble and you need to suck it up or take a hike. Stop blaming and accusing people because you don’t know how to “comic book” very well. That’s nobody’s fault but your own.

Remember… If you don’t already own it, the Dump’s ALWAYS on you!

This is a trash article where the writer doesn't even understand the concept of the pump and dump. Not all advertising or discussion about a book can be blindly labeled as pump. The problem arises when the book is advertised/discussed and inaccurate information is disseminated in the process that encourages the initial wave of buyers to jump at the opportunity, which leads to an initial (false) interest that then encourages future waves of buyers to get on board before the price peaks. Also one of the reasons for the volatility of the modern market is due to the vast amount of misinformation that is regurgitated ad nauseum before and during initial interest in a book is shown.

More stupidity: "If money’s your only aim, do us all a favor, just cut bait and run." Taken from an article written for a website with invest in the name. Maybe if money isn't your concern, you shouldn't be giving investment advice for an investment website.

It's also very convenient for the people who are potentially defrauding others to simply pass the buck on sheep that fall for their duplicity by telling them it's their own money and stupidity that are to blame.

There is a very large difference between pushing a false narrative to sell a book and giving out "investment advice" where you say because of A, B, and C, then D is likely to happen. CBSI has way too much of the former and not enough of the latter.

Also as stated before, the person that still insists on using an estimate using comichron numbers to reach a print total for incentive variants In his articles is the same character who contacts ebay sellers after a listing has ended to offer the seller a better price for his item that another buyer has already won. CBSI is a rudderless ship in a sea of nonsense. There is no need to continue to mention them here as they have their own forums.
