I am allergic to rat chewed corners.

I have to agree, this just grosses me out. Bug chews, pieces missing, trimming, slight brittleness, I can deal with all those in the right circumstances, but whenever I see a rat chew corner, I just want to take a paper cutter to it and clean it up.

Major fading is another no-go for me, especially when the the grade isn't hammered deservingly so. If it's so faded the reds are missing, it's no better than a coverless book IMHO.

I don't take any comic books (into my collection) that have:

1) Missing pieces or chunks

2) Missing pages or covers

3) Brittle pages

4) Loose covers or staples popped

5) Writing on covers or in pages

6) No headlights on GGA

Whenever I get a book with any defect above, I just read for fun and toss it into cheap bins to sell or give away at my booth.

Detached covers really bug me, but as i chase more and more scarcer rare/htf and afford Golden age, it's an issue i will learn to have to get over if i want to complete my ideal want list.

Don't like restored books, but can live with 'minor' color touch and 'minor" glue.

Won't buy 'pieces added', 'Married' 'replaced staples'.

Love me some better looking than grade 4.0 -5.0's

giant dongs drawn on the cover.

i understand that this is not necessarily a universally-accepted defect per se, and that there may be collectors out there who seek out this sort of defect. i for one will not have it, to the point where i might be convinced to seek out a conservationist who specialises in the removal of the above-named defect

Pieces added don't bother me when combined with spine reinforcement on certain GA books. Usually that means (at least from my understanding) that the piece added was to anchor the spine reinforcement.

Big no for: Faded, pressed, signed, writing, stamping , mis-wrap, marvel chipping, rust, graded by a certain company i wont name, COW or worse, or restoration.

I will buy with writing or stamps if its a characteristic of a pedigree or a nicely placed date stamp, and I may buy a pressed book if its a specific pedigree book I want. I also might buy a signed book if its lower grade.

I have to admit I'm a little surprised by all the people who are apparently totally okay with books whose covers are adorned with giant drawings of dongs. Giant dong drawings. Whatever.

It just goes to show how inscrutable the human psyche really is, I guess
