Lots of Golden age horror books have been seriously ramping up in value. Great if you have a copy for sale, but somewhat off-putting as a buyer because I do not have an explanation for the increase. Will it be sustained?

Consider this data from GPA on the Chamber of Chills 23:

( 9.0 ) File Copy - (1) $600 (1) $600 - $600 Apr-2016

 

$600 for a CGC 9.0 only 9 months ago to now "suddenly" have a CGC 8.5 at $1900 (+19%) = $2260 which is approaching 4X the value?

 

The CGC 7.0 that sold in Dec 2016 ( only a few weeks ago ) looks like a bargain:

It's confusing, but there are two different CoC #23s from Harvey. All the GPA data you cite is for the 1951 #23 which is not the classic one. The 1954 #23 is the 'Heartline' cover.

 

I tried all last year to find a decent low-to-midgrade copy, and was never able to. :taptaptap: At the time I actually found it a bit tougher than the #19. Just not enough copies to go around.

 

 

I found that out years ago when I bought a CoC 23 off an Internet site that had condition and grade but no pic. I received the '51 but wound up keeping it. Newb mistake! :blush:doh!

 

CoC 24 is another with two issues.... but I'm fond of each one. GOD BLESS...

It's interesting that there were only 4 bidders. I was 1 of them but I pulled out at $2150.

I might have gone a little higher but the right side miscut held me back.

Didn't want this thread to sink too far on the new boards. Here's a new pickup from Jimbo that I hadn't noticed was an electrocution cover till Jimmers posted his copy not too long ago. Was very surprised to find out who the guy was on the cover that gets "amnesia"!
