looks fun, too bad i missed it. didnt know.

Didn't u guys have a convention a few weeks ago?? (shrug)

That CBCS table looks awfully busy (:

Yes, there was a show in the Buffalo Convention Center four weeks ago, run by Dave & Adams Card World.

This show was run by Queen City Books.

I did see people submitting a good number of books to CBCS.

The Buffalo Powercon show at the Marriott is scheduled for October 2nd.

There's also another show that same week, or the week after, in Niagara Falls, NY. The promoter had a table next to Tito Santana and was handing out flyers. I have it somewhere. I think Dave & Adams will be there.

RocCon, a 3-day show in Rochester was just last week as well. There's a real Renaissance in good ol Western New York. All this, and the Bills too.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I may pop in to one of those shows if I have nothing else going on

Cool! Now all y'all need to do is get ride sharing services in there and you'll break the code. The good 'ole boy network has been so heavily ingrained in New York for decades. I think things will improve exponentially once the dinosaurs relinquish their power hold on the peons.

Obviously you can't improve the weather, but culturally you can stop the hemorrhaging and make that city GREAT AGAIN! Well done NY

There were some great books available. The Comic Interlude out of Lexington, KY (they don't even have a website) had some pretty amazing prices for CGC graded books that were well under GPA... a rarity for conventions for graded comics. I should have brought more $$$. Emil and company from Queen City Comics did a great job.

I've bought a lot from them over the years, they're always at Lexington Comic Con and several other local shows. Great prices, good guy.

I have a twisted metal 2 comic someone was throwing it out along with a few other comics. I looked it up and found out it might be valuable. Can anyone help. It's almost mint condition

Google search finds a WIKI that says it's probably worth something (a lot) to a fan of TM2:

The Twisted Metal 2 Comic is a 16 page comic book that was released in 1996 as a tie-in with Twisted Metal 2. It centers around Calypso and his backstory. It was licensed by Sony and published by DC Comics.

History

Only 100 copies were ever printed, and they were subsequently given out as prizes for a contest held by Sony's Tips & Tricks department around the time of Twisted Metal 2's release. Only 50 contestants had won, so the remaining 50 copies were either given to fans who wrote in requesting a copy, or were presumably destroyed. Due to the extreme rarity of this item, it is considered one of the most valuable pieces of Twisted Metal history, and to be of "Holy Grail" status by fans. It is also considered to be canon, as it was written in conjunction with Twisted Metal 2.

There was another 2 day con in the same area, about a month ago. There was no thread in the events subforum but a boardie posted up a report with pics.

It looked just like the report on this show- low attendance....

As Roy remarked, that show was also under promoted.

As far as a "rennasaince" is concerned, you can bet it will be short lived. The only people who make out from a sudden glut of shows in one area are the buyers, bc dealers price their books redinkulously cheap. Those dealers will get picked over quickly.

The promoters also make out from selling booths, but if they don't pick up the slack, good luck selling out booths next time around.

Any dealers who don't blow their books out at these shows don't make a decent profit.

These dealers with solid stock at/around FMV don't return. The dealers with box fulls of warehouse $3 bronze books return but when they do, it will be with boxes full of drek like a literal handful of VF-ish copies of What If#2.....all of their better books are bought by attendees at the previous years' show.

Then you have a 4-6 week period of 2 day cons every weekend, in the same area with a ton of subpar warehouse stock floating around the hall.

If the promoters don't wise up and actually promote their shows thru social media and forums like this board, the shows will stagnate and die.It really amazes me just how dense most convention promoters really are.

This is exactly why I set up at only a handful of conventions anymore.
