Thoughts about gcox current selling thread?

How many guidelines are NOT followed? ;)

Perhaps you were not paying attention? :baiting:

Links to (1) other web pages or (2) a photobucket album, with scans/grades/prices - Is this okay or does it violate #4 in the rules?

"Links to outside sites for any purpose involving purchasing the offered books are not allowed."

And if the link includes books that do not have grades or prices, still okay?

Did it finally get pulled?

:devil::applause::angel:

(thumbs u Technically it may not have broken the rules but clearly that's not how we do it. Hell, I could post a link to my photobucket account.....and there'd be some comics there for sale.

And some porn. And boobs. And David Hasselhoff naked. But I digress....

Hey divad :hi: always enjoy your rants...er, I mean, posts...

Question...

Let's say on paper my collection is worth $100-grand...and I'm looking to sell it in total to a forumite...approx. 60% of the 500 or so books are CGC HG so let's say it could be reasonably assumed the buyer could pretty much agree on the value of the books...what would the expected offer be? 50% value? 60% value dare I say 70% value?

It seems I read somewhere in a Thread that if a second-party seller were selling on consignment they'd get 30%...is that right? Or is it more?

Before I get inundated with PMs, please, this is only hypothetical and for purposes of the discussion...

THX in advance! :headbang:

(P.S. And go buy one of my Daredevils! :sumo: )

Tom,

I think 50% would be your best expectation - as you know, it's a lot of work matching buyers with just the right book. The last thing a dealer wants is excess inventory, particularly in the current economic climate. Large purchases are even more difficult now due to same. My guideline on collection buying (and trust me - I'm a small fry) has always been: make sure you are able to recoup the total cost within 3-6 months. Then you can take your time and parse out the profits on the remaining inventory (if you have the space and a patient and loving wifee lol )

Also, my guess is that you have already sold many of the "easy" sells, which makes the collection on the whole less attractive for outright purchase, and more attractive for consignment. As to 30%, that is probably about right for consignment, as 50% to 100% profit margin is the goal for resellers.

And finally, NO I wasn't watching the USC/Cal game . . . but I did watch some of the cal/OSU game yesterday :)

bestest,

D

Hey, my Uncle left me a bunch of comic books, and I want to turn them into money real fast. I don't really want to learn anything about comics, how to sell them, or get to know anyone around here, I just want to turn the inheritance into some cash. Now don't think I'm dishonest or disingenuous, but what the heck do I want with these old comic books, I just want the money.

Part 2...

oh yeah, and this book is apparently restored, the actual restoration will be slowly revealed until someone buys this thing. Please keep in mind, I dont like any of you but you can trust me, because without trust my loving uncle would have never left me this mess. P.S. you should consider yourselves lucky that I'm offering this beauty of a comic for a song, oh, and go yourselves. Also, please suck on some of whatever the hell this is :juggle::golfclap::blahblah::busy::luhv:
