What do you hope to learn from this?

This.

Why do you care if he's lying about owning some books? Unless he's trying to sell them, obviously.

+ a bajillion. Who cares?

I get it, you don't care unless money gets involved.

If he doesn't want to respond and no one cares I won't push it further here.

I just thought some clarity would be good before deals do start to happen.

It does reflect on a person if they are caught bragging about things they haven't done or don't own, that is one thing yes, but it is very definitely different if money is involved.

I understand you are trying to be proactive, but my fear is that this will amount to gossip and hearsay, and I'm not sure the person in question is really obligated to submit to questioning here. (shrug)

No one is obligated to do anything.

His choice whether or not he wants to clear it up and this is a better place than a new thread or an existing one. If this is the wrong thread, I can take it somewhere else. Watercooler or Comics General maybe?

He has already chosen to ignore a PM, which is a red flag to me.

But you are right, he doesn't have to do anything.

Then put him on your personal list and be done with it. (thumbs u

For sure this is a Comics General topic.

What do you hope to learn from this?

I think this person is misrepresenting themselves in more ways than one. I am not as good as a detective as some other boardies, but others have called out that there is something just not right here. I would like him to clear up some of these simple questions. If I am wrong, then there will be simple answers.

I think people on the boards should know if someone has been dishonest like this before interacting with them beyond a simple conversational level.

I think a lot of people are guilty of this, heck I could be accused of this myself for having the JsilverJanet name and actually being Hector.

While this is the General Discussion thread, it's really more the General SALES Discussion thread. Hence why most of the audience doesn't see it the same way you do.

Wait, are you telling us that you are not really a woman? :o I feel duped... :sorry:

Per capita, this place has become worse than eBay.

Its an on-line "Den of Thieves" compared to the old days.

A very noticeable decline in the quality of

professionalism for conducting business.

CGC should either abolish the selling area or set up

a strict guideline of rules that have to be upheld and have

a fee for the selling here.

Far too generous with the no fee selling format and

people are taking advantage of it or trying to take advantage of it.

I remember a time when the sales threads were people who actually wanted books for their collections, you could find really solid deals on key issues because it was collector to collector...nowadays though it's dealers selling to dealers. There is a big difference in the marketplace over the last ten years.

There's a few people I'm really impressed with though, in regards to how well they've actually blossomed into real businesses. EpicPeach and Nikelspot immediately come to mind, both of those guys have an extremely strong spirit of hustle and both of them are easily two of the most prevalent examples of integrity.

Sonny, I've read this place and examined it's society longer then

people that joined with 50,000+ posts. I didn't join in 2011 to make

emoticons to pad stats and hope to learn from others.

I should point out that I mean that statement in friendly terms as well.

I'm too old to give a s##t about drama.

lol ouch?

Hector, I could've easily thrown you on that list too and probably some other people...but two guys popped into my head to give some praise to. I can remember them both at times when they were struggling and now they're doing awesome and it just took them sticking it out and hustling.

one bad sales thread in the last 100+ and yet it's going to a den of thieves. Furthermore that sales thread was from a member of 2007.

Worse than eBay. Go into the sales threads and plenty of good sellers/buyers making transactions. Yet we allow one bad one create this idea that "change is needed"

looks like everything is working fine to me. the world isn't perfect nor do I expect everything to be. Live and learn.

The problem with conditional offers is that there really is nothing in it for the seller.

Sure you can nail down a price that would work for both of you but the buyer hasn't committed to anything.

Unless both parties are committed has an agreement been reached?

If a seller agrees to hold a book without any commitment from a buyer shouldn't the seller be free to change his mind (just as the seller is free to walk with the back cover as an excuse)?

See a few posts up. Contingent deals happen all day every day in businesses of all kinds. If two people agree to a something they are free to do it.

That's why a seller shouldn't agree to bind himself to those terms.

But once he does, he's gotta follow through.

.... lately I've actually been finding some good deals on eBay..... granted, these are usually raw and the slabbed higher end stuff is still basically just a museum. As for the boards, I guess I've been fortunate, as I've yet to have what I would call a bad deal.... and many deals were stellar. Admittedly, I'm a creature of habit and tend to do business with the same folks. The internet just seems to bring out the worst in some people..... low thresholds of tolerance, unrealistically high expectations.... some people seem as if they don't want to be happy. GOD BLESS....
