This thread is incomplete without this guy...plus it's the first Dr Droom (Dr Druid), six months before FF#1. I love it as a monster book and as an unheralded Marvel hero precursor key both

I just love these covers, the obvious pointer to the monster as if anyone else could be Torr! I'm reminded of those pantomime shows "He's behind you!" Please post more covers I love seeing them.

Although it’s perfectly fine as a boy’s name, I’ve always thought that Tim was a strange name for a Marvel monster.

It probably got Tim beat up a lot at school, and that’s why he ends up such an overcompensating, world-dominating tyrant.

To emphasise, nothing wrong with Tim as a boy’s name.  

But, give it to a young Marvel monster, in the playground with Fin Fang Foom, Groot, Xom, Oog, Monstro and the rest, and there’s going to be trouble and subsequent acting out.  It’s obvious.

I would love to know how they came up with those crazy names. Perhaps a bunch of dice with vowels and 8 consonants (A E I O U + G T R Z X M F P)

There was a strange kind of talent at work there, apart from the week when Lee and Kirby were off-form and could only come up with 'X' as a monster name.  Or maybe they'd just mislaid the dice?

At least we never got one called "I C U 2" now that would be scraping the BAR-REL hey I just came up with another cool name. "Look out everybody they've just ROLLED out another creature named BAR-REL he's 90% proof.
