malvin
and my consigments ended so my day is done I must say I am pleased with how they did. It still doesn't pay for all the big purchases I made this year but it helps! Malvin Ryanfromottawa

This one has more girls and is a published cover. 90s nostalgia is real and prices for top creators of that period are not likely to get cheaper any time soon. delekkerste
I saw that someone tripped the $9,200 reserve on that JIM 83 cover recreation. $9,200 happens to be the same price the piece sold for at Sotheby's in 1994. This is one of the pieces that Greg Theakston says was done by a ghost artist and not Kirby. Twanj

Or is there a super happy buyer and a super unhappy seller? They relisted it and it sold the second time for $3800. I don't follow Walking Dead art. Is this still considered a super low price? With James J out of the market, and the first part of his mega-collection of WD art on deck for the next Comic Connect sale, I'd say that put a big chill on this page more than the outage. Don't think this one was ever going to fetch the kind of big bucks early pages had been fetching in light of this new reality.

DeadpoolJr.
Seller took a $700+ lost on the DD #226 page. Page sold back in May in the Heritage auction for $4,302, and ended on Clink for $3600. Ouch... For me I was looking at a few pieces, but wanted to stick to my goals, and was actually able to win a piece I've always liked, so am very happy. jjonahjameson11
There are a few lots that haven't been discussed yet, and I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable with these artists and their works can shed some insight into the auction results on the following: 1. George Evans EC complete 7 page story = $25.25K. I'm assuming this is a strong result? 2. Graham Ingels EC complete 7 page story = $25.25K...also a strong result? 3. Wrightson Frankenstein plate = $46.55K. Good result, bad result or generally in the ballpark?

I was thinking of the "Dr. Frankenstein in the rain" plate at Profiles last year. In any case, the plate from last night was definitely on consignment with Mitch at SDCC this year (I think he confirmed as much earlier in the thread), priced at $65K. Sounds like $46.6K was not a bad price for it.
Andahaion
Interesting time going through my first CLink auction as a potential buyer of OA (I've only bid before on OA over at Heritage, where I got my tail kicked in). There were two pieces I was interested in: the Shane Davis/Sandra Hope Green Lantern #36 cover, and the Jim Lee/Tim Townsend Superman #215 half splash. The Davis/Hope cover landed smack in the middle of my estimate, so I'm happy with my process there. The Superman piece, however, is interesting for a few reasons. I know it was listed on CLink before the auction with a BIN of $5K. The site also showed a pending "offer" at that time of $4,020. I use quotes here because I'm not exactly sure if that offer was real or not. So going into the auction I had an initial belief that it would likely take about $4K to win it. I had my doubts at that price, however. As the auction was winding down last night I was thinking of putting in a bid, but then when it didn't hit reserve I started to have doubts even at $3K. The page didn't sell and is now listed with a BIN of $3K. That said, and someone more knowledgeable on Lee art is welcome to chime in here, it's my thought that the page should perhaps be valued somewhere in the $1,500-$2,000 range. I know folks here like to say that making mistakes is the "tuition" one pays into the hobby, but I'm really trying to balance getting art I love and not make a significant financial mistake. I suppose we all are, yes? At one point earlier in the auction, I literally wrote to a friend that I would be happy to pay $3K for the Superman page...but I suppose it's funny/interesting how things can change within a few short days. Don't have much more to add, just wanted to post my experience for posterity. Cheers. Twanj

Better deal for the new owner than the consignor (imo).
