Pizzafist Posted October 19, 2017 Share Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) I'm an everyday Ebay comic book buyer and over the last decade I've had many great purchases and quite a few bad ones. Unfortunately there are many SELLER Predators ripping people off these days on Ebay. They love to strike before the Holiday season.Here are some tips to avoid SELLER FRAUD. Granted, you are always covered by Ebay/Paypal buyer purchase protection. But that does not inspire confidence when you don't get a book you really wanted and have to wait (sometimes up to 2 months) to get your money back. #1 NEVER BUY AN EXPENSIVE BOOK FROM A SELLER WITH ZERO "0" Seller Feedback #2 MAKE SURE THE SELLER ACTUALLY HAS "SELLER" feedback ,not just "BUYER" feedback.(And look for at least some of those SELLER feedbacks to be equal in price to what you're buying.) #3 If the seller has a low feedback number, examine them by clicking on the "bids"(bid history) of their past sales. Look to make sure the sales were not done in 24hrs with feedback left to them in an impossible timeline(Example -an item is sold in 24hrs and feedback issued before it could have ever been shipped and received by a buyer)-If you see this click the "REPORT ITEM" link on the item page and bring attention to this for Ebay to notice. #4 Look to see if the SELLER leaves "FEEDBACK LEFT FOR OTHERS" If they don't it's a sign they can't be trusted. Feedback should be left to buyers when they pay.Before it's shipped to you. Update edit: It seems Ebay is now leaning towards Sellers leaving Feedback after the Buyer leaves their feedback now. #5 The HOTTER the book the more likely someone is trying to rip you off.Examples NEW MUTANTS 98 & 87. Batman the dark Knight Returns #1. Giant Size X-MEN #1 Any book that always sells fast for a solid price. #6 IF THE BOOK IS A"BUY IT NOW" AND THE PRICE SEEMS LIKE IT'S HALF OF WHAT IT SHOULD BE DON'T BE FOOLED. THIS IS HOW BAD SELLERS ARE ABLE TO SELL MULTIPLE FRAUDULENT SALES QUICKLY THEN GET THE MONEY AND DISAPPEAR. Just applying these simple habits can greatly reduce bad ebay experiences. Sellers get ripped off a lot as well, and we've even lost to ability to give negative feedback. I never give the buyer feedback untill they give me positive. They pay get your item and then can do so many things sellers are powerless to. Chargeback, forced returns, never recieved item claims, "not as described" refusal of package, send back a different broken item, buyers remorse, etc. All this after I gave positive feedback just cause they paid? No way. Feedback for buyers is pretty much useless unless it's super low anyway. I can understand your angst.It's tough on Ebay and serial bad buyers are out there that go to great lengths to rip off sellers and mentally vex them.You certainly have the right to leave feedback in any order you like....I was talking more about sellers who never leave any feedback for others ever.
