What is a "pressed" comic?

50 posts in this topic

Though the dealers deny it

Say they've never done that

We all know different

When we see that it's flat

Cause there's bags of money riding on a book

So the BSDs go and try their luck

And they laugh and snigger, just as you would do

When your 7.5 comes back a 9.2

Sorry I asked.

Indeed, welcome to the boards!

In one sentence, a pressed comic is a comic book that has had some extrenal pressure or a combination of external pressure with heat and/or humidity applied to part or all of the book in order to reduce or eliminate the appearance of folds, creases, warping and similar paper-impacting defects. smile.gif

I think about the practice

And the process it involves

I think about the rants & raves

And what all this now solves

Does it make a difference?

Do you really care?

What is the point of this discussion?

Is there something more to share?

Comic dorks all have their wishes.

But cry and moan like little [#@$%!!!].

Dealers squash their funny books.

They lynch them all for being crooks.

One thing can be said, about their luck.

Get over it, you stupid [#@$%!!!].

Some of us do care

We look after the little guy

Undisclosed pressing is wrong

And I will tell you why.

Pressing is restoration – return to original state

I don’t want my books to undergo this fate.

Why would dealers not disclose except to make a buck

Disclose the pressing and let the collector decide

But my message will just get lost in the muck.

I do not like my comics flat

I do not like them Ze- I am

Do not like them thin and flat

I do not like them smushed like that

Not even if they are done in-house

Or by a gal who wears a blouse

Not here, or there, nor anywhere

I do not like my comics flat

I do not like them Ze- I am

Could you press them with a goat? Could you steam them on a boat?

Could you relax them in the rain, could you roll them with a train?

Not with a goat!, nor on a boat!

Not in the rain!, not with a train!

Not if done in-house, or by that gal who wears a blouse

OH NO!!!

Slab them not in a plastic box

With 4 corner posts that somewhat lock

DONT SELL TO ME 893naughty-thumb.gifYOU LET ME BE!!!!!!!

I do not like my comics flat

I do not like them Ze- I am

Is "Pressing", "Restoration?"

Yes indeed, they do it

simply out of Greed.

When all is said and done

was it really just for fun?

Looking back upon the scene,

they did it all for the Gr$$n

Creases are ugly, they eat at my soul

To make them vanish is my heart's true goal

To my new friend Matt, that's where I did go

He made my America's Best #7 a 9.0!

Did I do it for profit, to rip someone off?

No, I did it for me, and put it back in the box.

You did what’s right

You did disclose

You kept the book

And closed the doors thumbsup2.gif

You did not sell

To try to deceive

And that is fine

That’s my pet peeve.

When NOT done for profit,

When NOT done for gain,

There is NO sorrow,

There is NO shame.

If only others played the same,

We could put to rest this silly game.

There once was a Big Swingin' D*ick

Who thought he was really quite slick

So he bought his own press

But he made such a mess

That his bidders on Ebay went "ICK!"
