You could be right about that 'fun with numbers' comment.

By Day 7 Rogue One had made $222M domestically. Not $310M. Even if using Day 8 as 'after Day 7' then Rogue One and The Last Jedi made $244.9M and $321.4M, respectively. Going by both Box Office Mojo and The-Numbers, which mirror one another.

Rogue One $222MM thru day 7 + $310MM after day 7 = $532M

TLJ: $297Mm thru day 7 + $323M after day 7 = $620MM

ROS: $289MM thru day 7 + X after day 7 = ?

I always felt “toxic fans” can only exist if we have “toxic media” and “toxic filmmakers. Rian Johnson would definitely fall into that last category.

Everything is a culture war now, Disney decided to wade heavily into it with TLJ, and since has suffered as they have scrambled to recover.

So far, the big difference between The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker are those first three days and then by Day 6 and 7 (12/25 & 12/26) of the latter it has seen a substantial increase in domestic box office attendance.

And you needed to share this why?

Because any number of fans get so obsessed with fictional material they develop an unhealthy attitude towards it and the people involved creating it. With the internet they can now strike out and attempt to bully anyone or anything that doesn’t fit into their ideas of what it should be without ever having to face them.

I think most people understand their right to free speech or opinions in saying they don’t like something which isn’t what’s always happening today where fans over obsessions with things and the feeling they now have power in the internet.

Fandom can be really fun but it’s always had people that run from light to moderate to hard core to simply unhealthy attitudes about what they love. Call it fandoms dark side but with tech being what it is today’s it can get damn ugly and sad...

Part of the reason Avengers: Endgame exceeded the Avatar record was the fanatical domestic movie-goers attending multiple times in a competition to take it over the top due to comments made by James Cameron about MCU films. While the international record remained by over $88M.

There were multiple social media campaigns where folks posted how fans needed to 'do their duty' and support Endgame if they really cared about the future of the MCU. And more than a few posted their multiple viewing experiences with pictures of each ticket. With the one fellow becoming the poster child for such activities that went over 200 times. And plenty of encouragement for others to do the same.

Say what you want about MCU movies being the best franchise ever. THIS is not normal behavior. Yet is strongly encouraged through very wise marketing campaigns. Even the Avengers actors have called this out. Though then they must have been asked to delete their posts. Don Cheadle actually responded to that fan rewatching Endgame by his 116th viewing 'Aren't there other movies you want to see?' But then later on he deleted it.

The people behind the scenes from actors to producers to the business behind them are always going to be careful about what they say publicly since it’s their livelihood. Don’t mistake that for them not having an opinion of some of the conduct.

Have a hobby, it’s fun! Just don’t get to obsessed with it. The word is balance in life.

Watching a Avengers movie 200 times???
Where the hell is the poster who was complaining about seeing a movie again...:nyah:

Disney has expanded the Star Wars franchise with three sequels to the Skywalker Saga, two spin-off movies, a handful of animated series and a live-action show. The reception for these additions to George Lucas' universe have been met with mixed responses; however, there is one film that stands out from the rest for taking Star Wars above and beyond all expectations. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the best franchise film of this generation, and it’s not only because it's the first to show Darth Vader in berserker mode.

This film does what the other new movies have not: capture the feeling of war in the Star Wars universe. The original trilogy is a fantasy epic set in space; the prequels are one part romance, one part political drama and one part science fiction; and the sequel trilogy returns to the same genre as the originals. While all these movies feature battles, death and imagery associated with war, none of them are truly war genre films like Rogue One is. This is partially due to the movie's elevated stakes.

The threat of death is present in all of the other films, as seen in the passings of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn and Han Solo; however, the core casts always make it out alive. Even when the stars of these films are trying to kill themselves, like Finn in The Last Jedi, they still survive. This leads to audiences being lulled into a sense of security, knowing no matter how dire the threat, their heroes will succeed.

Rogue One, on the other hand, kills off every core character, and each of their deaths stands out from those of the aforementioned films. Characters in the original, prequel and sequel trilogies tend to die in a manner that is more personal, often in some form of one-on-one combat. Instead of this, the characters of Rogue One are casualties of nameless soldiers in battle. There is nothing personal about the kills, because to the Empire, this is just another handful of rebels that needs to be put down. Taking away the personal connection between the murderers and their victims creates a more horrific and war-like feel to the movie.

Was lucky enough to be in California (staying across the street from the TCL theater) when the premier happened this month, but only got to see it the next day (but still on the TCL's IMAX screen, which was amazing for picture quality). It was 'meh', but I did enjoy it more than The Force Awakens. Best thing I can say about IX is that it featured maybe one of the best overall C-3PO performances of the series and it used him very well, it also made me want to re-watch Rogue One and TLJ over again so I could appreciate them even more.
