A lot of people have been asking me, "Hey Kev, what's up with AA59 & AA65"... well... that's an interesting story.

The Royal Acadamy of Illustration and Design, of which Chip Zdarsky, Cameron Stewart, Kagan McLeod, Ray Fawkes, Ben Shannon are a part of came to us with a unique and fun idea for the convention this year. They decided that what they would like to do, instead of the normal Artist Alley set up, is create the ultimate Royal Academy Lounge experience... the RAID Living Room! Yes, couches, chairs, lamps and more.

An oasis of civility amidst the chaos and din of the convention experience.

Not to be outdone, their pals Ramon Perez and Rob Coughler who produce the online strip Butternut Squash (and Spellgame and the Butternut Squash comic, formerly published by Speakeasy) have decided to recreate something a little more - relaxing, so to speak... the Butternut Squash Bedroom... a relaxing space where Ramon and Rob can... well, lie down and relax and watch the throngs pass by...

So there you have it. The Paradise TORONTO COMICON. We'll entertain any wacky idea...!

I think I'll save the story behind AA119 for another day....

We got a call yesterday informing us that JMS' status has changed from "schedule permitting" to "definitely will be there".

--------------

As of this morning, Artist Alley has completely SOLD OUT.

However, if you were a creator interested in setting up at the con, please contact us to be placed on the waiting list and we'll see what we can do for you.

Ed the Sock Comic Book to Premiere at Paradise Toronto Comicon

While American TV shows have a long history of making it into comics, TV shows from the Great White North have never been adapted for the four color pages. After all, hockey games don’t translate well to drawings on paper, and who wants to read a comic book version of CBC news?

So once again, it’s left to Ed the Sock to forge new ground in Canadian show business.

Ed and his busty, redheaded co-host, Liana K, grace the pages of Ed and Red’s Comic Strip #1, with art and stories by Sean Ward, Ho Che Anderson, Tyrone McCarthy, Evan Munday, Matthew Mohammed and Jason Yee, Zach Warton, and, none other than legendary Canadian comic-book creator Dave Sim (“Cerebus the Aardvark”). Even Ed himself takes a crack at doing art (albeit minor)!

The titular “Red” of “Ed and Red,” Liana K, is a full-fledged geek girl and comic book fan, and it was she who spearheaded the effort to bring the comic book to life.

“I go through life with the proportions of a comic-book chick,” Liana explains, “It’s nice to have something to show for it besides a sore back.”

“Ed and Red’s Comic Strip” will be debuting at the Toronto Comic-Con on April 28-30 at the National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place in Toronto. Featured guests include some of the leading names in comic books, including George Perez, David Lloyd (“V for Vendetta”), Greg Rucka (“Wonder Woman”), Frank Cho (“New Avengers”), Brian Azzarello (“Superman”, “100 Bullets”) and more.

Ed explains that “We chose the Paradise Toronto Comic-Con to unveil our book because it’s the biggest and best expo of it’s kind in Toronto, with the most impressive slate of guests from the world of comics… and it happened to occur just when we finished the book.”

At the “Ed & Red” booth, both Ed and Liana will be on hand to sign copies of their new comic, take pictures with fans and answer questions. Also, there will be Ed puppets and t-shirts on hand as well as Liana’s super-hot calendar for sale.

Ed’s Night Party! is Canada’s #1 late-night program. Now in it’s 11th season on CityTV, the show stars Canadian TV icon Ed the Sock and the leading lady of late-night, Liana K. The program features TV’s wildest late-night party with a hot tub, dancers and one-of-a-kind celebrity encounters and airs Fridays at 11:35 PM on CityTV.
