It is quite over-the-top.

I’m not surprised, especially because it’s breaking the fourth wall and staring straight at you.

Captain America annual 3. I was 11 years old.

But I’m serious; it was the only time I was ever scared by a comic. I love ECs. I reread Mignola’s Hellboy every Halloween. They’re fantastic! It’s just that I read them as an adult.

I’ll admit that I used to be squeamish about vampires. So this, as a kid? It Got me.

I loved this book.  Remember buying it off the stands back in the day. Kirby fresh off his 4th World stint over at DC and at his far out best.

Good topic...I remember a 70s horror comic about a guy that kills a gypsy and at the end his body starts to unravel like a ball of yarn because of a curse...still sticks with me...any help finding what comic this is would be appreciated...

I remember the story very well.

Disturbed me a bit when I turned the page and saw that image in my newsstand copy, back in the 70s.

That’s why I recalled it so easily.

Very powerful artwork by Ramona Fradon there.

The one that I thought was scary when I was a kid in the 1960's was Fantastic Four #58. What a dark storyline. It was the FF's darkest hour. They were so hopeless fighting Doctor Doom. Still to this day my favorite FF story #57 to # 60. Stan and Jack were at the top of there game.

Unconventional choice, but I support any reference to the Kirby Fantastic Four canon!

If anyone ever finds a story about  a thief who hides out in an abandoned manor, then makes his way upstairs and finds a dead witch laying in bed and then get chased by rats until he falls through the stairwell and breaks his leg. Please let me know.
