Bosco685
Quote EXCLUSIVE: With production gearing up, Warner Bros., DC Entertainment and James Wan have found Jason Momoa his first new co-star for highly-anticipated sequel to the global hit Aquaman. Sources tell Deadline Pilou Asbaek, best known for his role as the villainous Euron Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, is in talks to join Aquaman 2 opposite Momoa who is set to return in the title role. Wan is returning to direct and produce alongside Peter Safran. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is penning the -script. Plot is unknown at this time and it is unknown who Asbaek would be playing in the film. The original was a massive hit for the studio, grossing more than $1.14 billion at the worldwide box office and the sequel has been a high priority for the studio. The film is set to bow on Dec. 16, 2022. Asbaek’s star has been on the rise after his scene-stealing performance as Greyjoy from the moment he appeared in the sixth season of the hit show. On the film side Asbaek has been busy, with credits that include Overlord, Run Sweetheart Run and most recently the Netflix pic Over the Wire. He can be seen next opposite Sylvester Stallone in MGM’s Samaritan. He is repped by UTA, Art Management and Untitled Entertainment.

Bosco685
HOW AQUAMAN 2’S WORKING TITLE OF NECRUS COULD BE A SPOILER-FILLED TEASE FOR THE SEQUEL’S EPIC PLOT Quote Necrus is a militaristic society with their king, Mongo, who believes that any and all invasions from the surface dwellers should be met with an aggressive and fatal response. Mongo’s raiders decimated a scientific colony when the city emerged in Aquaman #30 and later Mongo tried to forge an alliance with Aquaman and Atlantis, but when this didn’t succeed he imprisoned the King. Mongo then declares war against Atlantis after Aquaman’s refusal and although Mongo and his forces from Necrus were defeated by Aquaman, he was able to return to his city before it faded away. If Necrus were to make an appearance in Aquaman 2, it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that they may look to ally themselves with Orm instead of Arthur. In Aquaman, Orm had a similar view towards the land dwellers and he was forcing the other kingdoms of the ocean to join him so that he could become Ocean Master and declare war against the surface world. Mongo would likely find an ally or even a partner in Orm if he wanted to not only lay siege to the surface dwellers, but also attack with the support of Atlantis and its forces. Lost Kingdom Location Explained Quote In an Instagram post last week, director James Wan revealed that the movie's working title is Necrus, which shares its name with a kingdom that has made a limited appearance in Aquaman comics throughout history. Could this working title allude to a live-action appearance of the kingdom of Necrus, and its tyrant ruler Mongo, and could fans see more at this years' DC FanDome event? First appearing in Aquaman #30 (December 1966), the kingdom of Necrus is the second domed city to appear under the Earth's oceans, after Atlantis. However, unlike the city of Atlantis, Necrus has a far more unstable status. Perhaps one of the more bizarre settlements in DC Comics' extensive history, Necrus actually only exists on the material plane for a brief period of time when an alien satellite enters the Earth's orbit. Earth's magnetic field triggers a device that then opens up a hole in dimensional space, from which Necrus emerges. The city's location in the ocean is also then dependent on the satellite's position, as it can appear at any point on Earth. However, just as easily as Necrus can appear from a dimensional hole, so too can this mysterious city disappear. Known throughout its history as "The Black History", Necrus is ruled over by its tyrant king, Mongo. Ruling as a militaristic warlord, the society of Necrus largely follows suit and is inherently militaristic. The last time that Necrus appeared on Earth thanks to the alien satellite that controls its appearances, members of Mongo's people slaughtered a surface outpost that was under construction. Following this act of violence, Atlantis then went to war with Necrus and argued that there can be continued acceptance of surface dwellers living beneath the waves; a story that Aquaman 2 could adapt. Though not a popular kingdom, Necrus has appeared in DC Comics and has been a thorn in Aquaman's side. Aquaman #30 (1966) WolverineX

Bosco685
Quote After Aquaman blew past $1 billion at the box office, there was little question over whether there would be a sequel. However, what's perhaps surprising is that the follow-up – full title Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – is taking heavy inspiration from an influential, campy '60s Italian horror. "Aquaman 2 is very heavily inspired by Planet of the Vampires,” director James Wan tells Total Film in the new issue of the magazine, featuring Dune on the cover. "You can take the boy out of horror but you can never take the horror out the boy." Planet of the Vampires is a pulpy 1965 space adventure about two ships that land on a mysterious planet, only for members of the two crews to become possessed by an unknown evil. Directed by Italian genre maestro Mario Bava, the movie was met with positive reviews and many have speculated that it was a major influence on Ridley Scott's Alien and its prequel, Prometheus.
