ttfitz
Previously count - 23 Sandman #29 The TPB collection we are reading - Fables and Reflections - has a number of the one-off issues of the series, in a rather jumbled up order, which is why this one is up. As with everything Sandman, excellent reading. I'm now 2 issues (out of the 2 issues so far) ahead of my family, so don't know when I might read another. Supreme Blue Rose 1-7 Yes, back into the "S" independent titles from the early 20-teens! Really enjoyed the Alan Moore issues of Supreme back in the day, and figured I would try this Warren Ellis title. Warren Ellis is apparently a wanker, but he usually puts out some very entertaining books. This isn't one of those times. It was rather confusing, and while I kinda get what he was going for, I didn't really care for it a great deal. The Twilight Zone 1-12 As you know from the alphabet song, "T" comes after "S", so here we are. This set of 12 issues from the great JMS, J. Michael Straczynski aka Joe (if I ever meet him I'm going to ask about the whole "J"/Joe thing), consists of 3 stories (minor spoiler) Spoiler that turns out to be one interconnected story is really pretty good. Plays well to the whole Twilight Zone feel. Recommended. The Twilight Zone: Shadow & Substance 1-4 The followup series I found to be hit or miss - the first storyline (issues 1-2) hit, the second missed. While the second one felt like the Twilight Zone, it was just too obvious and overdone. Obvious can be okay if you bring something new to the table, but this didn't. So, looks like we end this report at - 47 Raze, Talapas1, WeR138 and 1 other
Popular Post CAMPER49
I'm all in! I started reading DAREDEVIL (1964) from #1 back in November and am currently at #247. Pretty sure I started the Miller run around New Years Day so I'll say DAREDEVIL #158 was comic #1 for me in 2021. Once I'm done reading the 653 DD comics (including the 16 Annuals) from #1 up to #25/637 today, I'm moving over to DC to read all the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA (1960) comics including the three BRAVE and BOLD intro books. JLA has always been an awesome read for me, can never read them too many times. Same goes for the FLASH (1959). I'll try to squeeze this series in before 2022 hits. So 496 DD comics (653-157), 267 JLA comics (261 + 3 annuals + 3 B&B), and 250 FLASH comics (4 Showcase books + 105 to 350) to read in 2021...total is 1,013. Hope I can do it. ttfitz, Savoyard23, Raze and 5 others
Popular Post THE_BEYONDER
24/1000 DD 182-191 DD loses it over the death of Elektra, and begins to question if she really died. The Punisher escapes from jail, and goes after the drug dealers of Hell’s Kitchen. Miller does a great job with this anti-hero. With issue 185, Janson takes over all the art duties on the book. DD’s super senses go haywire, and he once again seeks out his mentor Stick. The hand resurrects their top ninja, and assigns him the task of killing Stick. The hand kidnaps the body of Elektra after Matt digs her up ( ) to confirm her identity. All in all, DD 169-191 was a great read. Now to figure out what to read next.... Popular Post Talapas1
1-18 Finally getting around to logging my reads this year. I’ve been working on a long series that I’ll log at a later time, but in between chapters, I’ve been trying to keep up with my 2020 pull list. Future State: So far this has been fun. I’ve been grabbing as many as I can, though I won’t be reading all of them as my income isn’t that disposable. So far, my favorites have been Wonder Woman, Justice League, Next Batman, and Justice League. Superman/Wonder Woman was also pretty good. While being dropped into the middle of a new setting isn’t typically a problem to me, the various books handled it with varying success. Wonder Woman was my favorite in this instance, Superman was my least. I enjoyed the larger books despite their higher price tags. Multiple stories per book really helped flesh out the settings without beating you over the head with details in a single story. Can’t wait to see some of the others. Death Metal: Great intro to Future State. Epic battles, new mythology, amazing art, what’s not to love? Star Wars High Republic: Lucked out and my flcs through one in my box for me despite me forgetting to order. It has potential to be my new favorite modern Star Wars story. I tend to enjoy stories with new characters as they have more space for development than established ones. Stranger Things Science Camp: Nice end to a fun series. I wondered how they would wrap up the story and wasn’t expecting what really happened, though I probably should have. This is one that my kids love and it’s nice having something we can all read and enjoy together. Crossover: This story is moving up the list of my favorite comics. The special guest at the end of this issue was a fun surprise and it will be fun to see where they go. Dark Multiverse: Dark Nights Metal: I guess this was the wrap up of the series? It was fun much like the others, though the theme of hopelessness is still prevalent. Curious to see if they continue with this format for future elseworlds like tales or if this truly was the last of these. The Cimmerian: Frost Giants Daughter: This series is pretty awesome and definitely not Marvel. It is more honest to the books that I read in high school and the art is more of the sword and sorcery style that I fell in love with back then. Scout’s Honor: Post Apocalyptic Boy Scouts? Yes please. This story managed to introduce characters and a world in one book. Fresh look at the end times without having to resort to zombies. Looking to be a great year and I already have three short boxes waiting to be read for this year. WeR138, ttfitz, Raze and 2 others

Popular Post Savoyard23
Legion of Super-Heroes (1984) 40 Fantastic Four 30 - A little before Lee and Kirby really hit the afterburner on this title, but early FF still had to be one of the best titles on the stands back in 1964. Still full of fresh ideas. Daredevil 158-160 - You can understand why Frank Miller was hyped up even in the credits to 158. Death-Stalker looks terrifying in this issue and his battle with DD feels like you're watching a movie. 159-160 feel very 'Miller' even though Roger McKenzie is still the writer. I wonder how much input Frank was getting even then. Marvel Team-Up 133-134 41 and counting. But need to pick up the pace! ttfitz, WeR138, THE_BEYONDER and 5 others

Popular Post Raze
30-34 Juggernaut 1-5 I know nothing much about Juggernaut other than once he starts moving he cant stop...till he wants to I guess. I only read the ASM (226-227?) 2 part story with him in it and liked it a lot. This was recommended to me from my favorite youtube channel so I took a chance. I really liked Ron Garneys art. Th story was pretty fun as well. (If I read X-Men Id know more about the story.) I dont do well explaining books without spoilers so Ill just say if you're a fan of Juggernaut, check it out. Popular Post srezvan
I'm up to 50 books for 2021 so far. I feel like me saying how great Old Man Logan is, is like me going to a BBQ competition and telling people how great brisket is. This was my first time reading it. Such a great storyline, all the way through the end. Doing some research online after reading this, it looks like Old Man Logan first appeared in the Fantastic Four and the story continues (maybe) in an Old Man Logan ongoing series. Anyone have an opinion about if either of these are any good? Raze, Talapas1, RayJr and 2 others
WeR138
Amazing Spider-Man 21 more issues between 187 and 306. At this point, I'm barely getting much in the way of completed arcs. Don't have many more of this title left. Highlights: #197 Always loved this issue. The return of Wilson Fisk, and Vanessa has given him an ultimatum. He has until midnight to destroy Spider-Man, after that, it's his crime enterprise or his wife. In the end, he's just an old romantic. #300 The first appearance of Venom speaks for itself, and I happily noticed for the first time, the issue I bought quite a while ago in the sellers forum was signed on the first page by Michelinie. 69 issues read in 2021 RayJr, ttfitz, Ken Aldred and 1 other
Popular Post kccoig14
So these past couple weeks I've been making my way through the Marvel Now era's events and Hickman's run on Avengers. I've read pretty much everything up to ''Time Runs Out" and will be starting that soon. Got half way through the Avengers World complete collection and noticed a recap of events happening in Original Sin and Avengers/X-Men: Axis so I ordered those, finished Original Sin today and will be reading Axis next before continuing on with the rest of Avengers World and then onto Time Runs Out. I'm pretty sure I don't need to read everything to be caught up with Hickman's run but I've really been enjoying the Marvel Now series so I've been trying to read most of what I can to get the "full picture". I also started Reborn last night and finished it this morning. I've been looking forward to reading that for awhile but was kind of let down. I don't really have any major complaints on the book, just felt like it fell short of its potential. And as you'll notice in my list, I've read a few Golden Age books. There's nothing that beats good ol' GA. Reading a copy of Joe Palooka again made me remember how much I really like that series, it had pretty in depth stories for the time it was coming out. I'll probably be tracking down some more issues to read soon. 1/15/21 - 1/24/21 -New Avengers (2013) 14-20 (7) -King in Black #3 -Black Cat #2 -Marvel Treasury Edition (1975) #6: Doctor Strange (5) -Eternals #1 -Wonder Woman #750 -Batman/Catwoman #2 - The Next Batman #2 -Harvey Hits Presents: The Phantom(1961) #48 -Popular Comics (1943) #83 -Blast Off presents The 3 Rocketeers (1965) #1 -Fight Comics (1951) #75 -Buster Brown Comics (1946) #19 -Rod Cameron Western (1952) #15 -Shadow Comics (1945) vol. 5 #5 -Tomb of Terror (1952) #2 -Space Adventures (1961) #40 -Joe Palooka (1947) #14 -Avengers by Jonathan Hickman HC vol. 3 (11) -Original Sin HC (17) -Reborn TPB (6) TOTAL: 61 2021 TOTAL: 187 Edited January 25, 2021 by kccoig14 RayJr, ttfitz, Talapas1 and 2 others

Popular Post Talapas1
19-26 I was cleaning up today and forgot about these. I read them right at the start of the year and then set them aside to be filed. Maestro: Great ending to this Maestro origin tale. Already signed up for the next Maestro mini. I love Peter David’s return to the Jade Giant. Marvel: these are fun. I’m typically a fan of anthology style books. Bounty Hunters: I was losing interest but 4Lom and Zuckuss joining the fray have kept me into it. I’d be happier if the main character was “retired” so we could get more of the Gand and Droid duo. Transformers Back to the Future. Fun though silly. Keeping me entertained. Stranger Things DND: I love the old rulebook style covers for this series. The story is enjoyable as well. Transformers Galaxies: I’m not the biggest fan of this story arc involving Ultra Magnus. I suppose it’s been hard to warm up to him when they’ve had so many different backgrounds for him. It’s like they try to make him interesting and continually fail. Bright side for this arc is that one of my favorite characters, Octane, is hanging around. The Boys Dear Becky: Good end to a decent series. Favorite parts of the run were swing the flashbacks to Butcher and the Boys keeping the supes in line. The Annie Hughie story was fine but dragged at times. Overall I was happy to delve into the world of VA. Jinny Hex: This was a neat little one shot giving some more background on the unpolished Young Justice member. We learned a bit more about her background and capabilities. I hope we get some more Young Justice in the future so we can see her develop in a team setting.
