The notation is MANUFACTURED WITH STAPLES MISPLACED, AFFECTS STORY. I had never seen that before and I wonder how staple placement would affect the story. Anyone here own this book? Funnybooks
The staple is in the S...Spider-Man title.. I would say that qualifies for affects story...this is certainly a first Edited May 10, 2021 by Funnybooks MetalPSI , Deadpoolica, MatterEaterLad and 1 other 3
JazzMan
Now I see it. I'm amazed that a kid wouldn't have just pulled it out or bent the pages and broken the black color on the cover. Funnybooks
D84
But since you can't read the book in a slab, does it matter? theCapraAegagrus, Funnybooks and catman76 1 1

Honestly, don't know why it simply could not have been blue label with that notation. It's a manufacturing defect. And plus, it's in a slab, affecting the story is kinda pointless. Gatsby77
I agree with this defect and qualified grade. The staple misplacements are so egregious it's basically impossible to read the book. Imagine it would be a 3.0 if universal (blue). Juno Beach
Cliff R.
How was CGC able to grade it if it couldn't be fully opened?

JollyComics
Inexplicable. Either way, no one wanted it so the dealer kept or the collector found it unique then kept it ever since. I remembered the collector had comic book collection with various errors and consigned with CC about ten years ago. Those errors are kind of cool.
