Nice work Jimm…

Perhaps someone can contact Josh and let him know that this is very likely a "questionable" Ewert book. He should contact the buyer and inform him of his options or allow him to back out. Considering the value of the book, I'm sure a phone call to CGC would yield a confirmation if it is or isn't a Ewert book.

Bruce,

The ASM # 4 CGC 9.4 that is currently listed as Sale Pending for $13,000 on Comiclink has slab serial number: 0098461001.

Serial Number 0098461003 is in your list of Ewert books.

I'm not usually one to judge trimming from a scan without a before/after comparison, but this copy actually has "underhang" on portions of the top and bottom edge. I'm simply pointing out the book --- everyone is entitled to form their own opinion.

I hope this information is helpful to you.

I seem to remember that someone indicated that Comiclink only has one Ewert book on their site. I believe that they had one Ewert book Directly consigned to them. Now a few others indirectly. How many others still to be discovered? I believe hammer was talking about an FF2 on Comiclink that was "whacked" . Is Hammer right? If true was this a Ewert or the son of Ewert job? This is not an indictment of Comiclink as they would have no history of the books and are simple selling them as they come in. I understand we are talking about a few books but how many when all the results are in? Am I just seeing shadows in a very small problem?

If it is found that JE's trimming efforts involved very expensive books (like a 9.4 ASM # 4), I think the consequences for the hobby will be dark indeed.

Its NOT the same book. The 9.4 has more image area at the top.

But it WAS reslabbed and listed on Pedigree comics as 9.2 note the blue dot.

I agree. After reading Hammer's post regarding the ASM #4 issue a few days ago, I went back and checked every single 8.0 and above copy in the Heritage archives, and none of them matched this book. There was one 9.4 copy that seemed to have some SCS damage that was resold 4 or 5 times within 3 years on Heritage. That being said, the top of the book in question does look conspicuous.

If you guys want to be patient, I will have a nice list with all of the information that you can easily import into programs or have the spreadsheet directly.

I too had to scrape the first post Bruce had to get the serial numbers, and now I see he just posted just the serial numbers frustrated.gif

I plan on burning the midnight oil to complete this list. I've also continued to receive serial numbers of books purchased from Ewert so thanks everyone--I am very busy; just wanted to update everyone.

If you notice, the trend towards using consecutive invoice numbers is obviously apparent. Notice that some of the invoice numbers in consecutive series are missing. While I am busy adding books from these invoices to the list, please take note of missing invoice numbers above. Please contact me if you have a book purchased from Ewert that comes from invoice numbers not listed here.

Is there a way to find out which books were caught by CGC as trimmed during this 9 month period? I'm trying to figure out whether JE took one on the chin and sold the books as PLODs or raw, or did he massage them some more and send them back to CGC? For instance, are there instances where Book A came back as a 9.4 trimmed PLOD in February, but was re-submitted and returned in a blue label in June (for instance, if 2 Avengers #6 books on the list graded as 9.6)? JE could have tried to age the edges some more and send it back for re-grading, or perhaps he was just sitting on these books for a future submission. I'm sure the books that were caught as trimmed really helped him sharpen his skills to avoid detection.

You guys are my new heroes!

As this list grows and grows,I've got to think it is impossible for a single person to have worked this many books so quickly.

Either the vast majority aren't doctered,or Jason has a veritable Santas Workshop full of busy elves.
