Shifting gears, but somewhat related: this is why I've never even taken the time to register to bid on ComicConnect....

Just so you don't get the wrong idea, the original asking price on that piece was set by the pieces owner and does not reflect the opinion of the staff at ComicConnect. when it didn't sell it was taken to Comiclink, and, well, you can see what happened.

I understand that the seller created the original asking price.

The reputation of the auction house and its appraisers does get a ding in my opinion for allowing consignments like this to happen. Someone somewhere along the line ought to tell the seller to take that behavior to eBay

I know of cases where both HA and CLink have rejected consignments because of the (in their opinion) unrealistic valuations/parameters the sellers were attempting to put in place.

I don’t think you are wrong. It seems to me that the potential seller was not just wrong, but got what he deserved. He exposed a piece which didn’t sell, thereby reducing interest in it later as a bit distressed. If CC sees something this out of whack, perhaps instead of a flat rejection they should consider a surcharge on listing for using up CC’s assets.

When I was referring to ASM Romita, I meant Bronze Age covers, not Silver Age.

The ASM Annual #7 cover went for 87k. The ASM 90 and 91 went for over 100k, but not by much. And 3 ASM covers under #100 went for around 100k or less, but they certainly were not A covers.

But my point was you can do a lot with 100k other than buy this page.

What’s the conversion rate to EPA (Equivalent Peanuts Artwork)?  I need to know that so I can put it into context.

In general, the Comic Link and Comic Connect auctions were pretty low this week.  It could be the normal seasonal slowdown or maybe just a lot of eyes on the upcoming Heritage auction.

Not all of them. An Aparo Phantom Stranger page on Comic Connect went for $2,415 plus 15%. It was a moody panel page with nice atmosphere, but no action. I figured it would go for a bit less than $2k, including BP, so that was high.

That’s why Xatari prefaced his post with “In general…”

but I agree with him.  Generally weaker than expected results, with a few exceptions.
