That was very interesting, thanks for sharing. Nearly 20k copies of Spawn 1 graded, print run of a million zillion copies, and 9.8's keep going up and up. We live in interesting times.

I feel you.

If so many "moderns" can come back 9.8 and still put forth value for collectors and fans, then I finally felt it was time to pick up Omega Men #3 in 9.8.

One of those that are good reads or such are great to find and obtain, but I don't ever feel like picking up books where I'm "pigeon holed" to get 9.8 or else.

idk those seem like the bottom of the list books for me. I'm weird haha

I think Omega Men 3 is a solid book. Classic character with great potential down the road, great cover, from a great time! I'd take a OM3 over a stack of Spawn 1s....but oddly enough, I do feel like I kinda WANT a Spawn 1 these days. What the hell???

ya the claim for 9.8 or bust is finicky for me

I mean there are not only so many of these issues, even copper issues, that it is like the 9.8 is the common. It feels like I'm collecting a baseball card, if that makes sense. Yes these are desirable issues, though, it is just the new norm of value in 9.8 that is making me revisit them to pick up.

I always dreamed of finding most of these raw in the wild, and I guess I came in too late for "some books" to be found that easily. Still finding 9.8's in the wild were probably always hard.

In short, they feel a little like tokens in a slab, especially when the story can be so cool ie the Killing Joke!

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Collecting is fun, I have most of those books, just in time I'm hoping for more of a desire for them.

It's tougher if their out of reach like some moderns.

Picking up the copper now before they're out of the realm sounds good to me!

Is the CGC slab, grading cost, and shipping fees more valuable than the 9.8 these days?

It's pretty funny if it isn't given how many were printed.

It's been a $200+ book consistently since early 2021 even with 733 CGC 9.8 sales this year.  Yup, it's worth slabbing.
