Laziness, Re-cycling and swiping in the GA. 9 9

This thread has really fascinated me.

I decided to devote some creative time yesterday to making a piece of art.

So I did a mashup of these two.  Fun!

Here's an example of Harry Lazurus re-cycling his own BEM (Bug-eyed monster).

Eerie from August 1952 for Avon, then he decides to resurrect the BEM for a splash in Adventures in the Unknown in January 1954 and for the cover also.

This is an interesting one.

Same publisher, same title. Top splash is by Harry Lazurus, and then three months later the bottom splash is by Pete Riss with no involvement from Lazurus.

These 3 definitely show the "laziness" angle of this thread.  There are only 17 covers to this comic so basically 1/6 of them have the same woman.  They didn't even flip the image to make it look different.

Ghastly's famous cover came in Jan 1953 for EC.

This panel is exactly one year later by Sheldon Moldoff for ACG (Out of the Night # 12).

I think it's fair to say that Moldoff was influenced either consciously or unconsciously by Ingels cover work....

Arguably one of the ultimate swipes. Yes it's flattery for EC, but what a case of completely stealing the likenesses of not only two established characters, but also the likeness of the publisher himself.
