Again, if they submitted mass quantities of silver junk would that make a difference?  Are you trying to just say that they're not monetarily worth grading?  What difference does it make what era the books came from?

Well, yes I do believe there's a discussion to be had about which books are "worth" grading -- but super-common, super-recent 9.8s are only one subcategory of the books that may not yield much ROI.  Unless we're talking about the kind of keys that have significant value in any conceivable grade, even with Silver Age books there's usually a cutoff point somewhere (in terms of expected grade) where I wouldn't recommend getting the book graded.

But that's not really the point I was trying to make.  Every indication is that CGC is struggling with massive shortages of both manpower and equipment.  They've clearly established a number of tiers of service, but it's not nearly as clear (to me at least -- I am happy to be corrected on this) whether they've established independent "queues" for the submissions that fall under each tier, with the exception of the walkthrough service.  Personally, I would feel better if I knew that a book submitted at the Standard or Economy tier wasn't competing for the same resources as a book submitted at the Modern tier, because CGC had assigned dedicated resources to each of those tiers.

I hope that makes sense -- not trying to "blame the consumer" as I believe collectors of all kinds bring energy to the hobby that benefits all of us.

Here are some screenshots of an unboxing I watched on Facebook.  Kid is starting a business to sell comics.

Did these books need to be slabbed?
Could they have been sold raw?

There are TONS of people out there like this kid.  TONS.

Right, so here's where I need to be careful because if I say how I really feel, I'll come across like a high-and-mighty jerk.

Normally I wouldn't care.  He can learn his lessons the hard way.  But because those books are competing for the same resources as mine, it's very hard not to feel resentment.

I have 2 questions:

1. Was this his first submission?

2. Will this be his last?

I have a bunch of raws from bin diving or gifted to me, that I may not want to "sell now", yet I'll admit, some of them are too low grade even for my tastes :roflmao:

I didn't want it confused with a older book flash 141.

#141 I speak of is first full black flash, for clarifying, otherwise you make me out all kinds of wrong lol

Most are decent $50-75 books, still wouldn't meet the threshold for most to sub, under any circumstances. Still at cost to grade only, I'd rather have them slabbed.

Nothing as close to that X-Men#103 cgc 4.0 that someone else posted.

Well wolverine#154 in 7.5 comes close :roflmao:doh!

Yet idk there is only that one and one other THAT BAD 😂

To save the $60 before my membership tier benefits run out in May hahahahahah

Marvel should sell books already graded.

Hire or train some specialists to pull the best books form the production process...only 9s and 10s get the Marvel Comics slab.

Just imagine...variant slabs!

Or do what another publisher did... told CGC what grades they wanted and paid them to give it.

All Crime 1 is a rad book.

Amen, picked it up for a $4 at a DVD store. I thought it was cool enough to keep, and or, maybe try to complete the set, although I doubt I'll go that far lol

It is made to look torn or ragged, so I sent it off to see how those get grade, this time not too bad  😔

There's a hard on grading thread?

Dude ... just believe in yourself, she's not going to complain if you just show her you genuinely care about her.

I have seen and heard a lot about the slow turn around times at CGC and for many of us, its not how things used to be.

CGC clearly have too much work post Covid and taking on more people in such a specialised and customer sensitive business can't be easy. I would however, say that there are certain people out there who don't help the situation at all by sending in 20, 30, 50, comics at a time and then, complain about the quality of service and grades they get.

Just browse Youtube and you will see them sitting next to huge piles of their newly returned submissions.

eg. Comic Book Investments

      Mint Hunter Comics

If you scale this up across the market, no wonder it takes so long for CGC to process the submissions. People such as these, are hogging the process and clogging the CGC system to the detrement of other users.

My answer to them is, be more responsible and stop submitting 100's of comics to CGC. You just might bring about a better and quicker service for everyone ?

There are a number of retailers, such as HotshotComics as an example (on IG/eBay) who sell preorders of books not even released yet... by the hundreds.

Compared to a couple what.. Youtubers?

You're whining about the wrong people.

That said.... if they pay for the service, they deserve the service.  Don't be mad.
