True, especially for people who throw years old kudos in another persons face every chance they get, especially knowing the person who left those kudos has no bigger regret in the hobby spanning 30+ years.

If someone says how do you like my outfit and it looks goofy just say it looks goofy-if you try to be polite and say it looks super awesome it can turn around and bite ya!

more likely an attempt at attention.  Real suicides do it in private.

ya i don't know, but better safe than sorry. this friend is also homeless and has other issues, but it got to me... like a lot. he had stuff of his in storage at my house that is now at a place he can get it back if needed, just i no longer wanted to be liable.... sounds selfish but it's necessary imo

you have to disentangle.  many homeless people have family and if their own family doesnt want anything to do with them that says it all.

It's weird that someone who had a single book found, and a handful of books pressed, would consider those transactions the "biggest regret in the hobby spanning 30+ years"...especially since, at the time, that person expressed nothing but satisfaction with how everything turned out. It was only years later that those transactions "turned bad." What kind of person asks moderation to remove 3-5 year old kudos from a kudos thread...? Who does that sort of thing...? Never mind the libelous accusations of fraud....

(shrug)

I mean...we were talking about disappearing history, after all....

I don't know man, sounds like you've been, are continuing to be a good person and friend.Knowing their stuff is safe may help them get a bit of peace of mind while getting help.Mental health can affect those around the person suffering,I hope everything works out okay for everyone.

Is this "someone" you're referring to infamous for rocking a purple zoot suit and mis-matched derby? :gossip:

i'm nervous to say, but a friend tried to commit suicide at my house :sorry:

i had to wrestle the knife away and for ten more minutes until th cops showed up. this person has since seen psychiatric help, but i'm too old to have them over anymore. i'm too afraid that they'd turn the knife on me next time. one and done. and no, drugs nor alchohol were involved , so i hope and pray they seek help...

:whatthe:

Sounds like Lady Luck took an extended leave of absence from sitting on your shoulder!

Correct. Those hellbent on ending it do so in a place where they won't risk being discovered in time to be stopped.

@kav they waited till I went to bed, I heard cussing, then went to check up, they were in the herie Kerrie position, wrestled the knife put it back in the drawer, they went for the drawer handle as it was held shut, they couldn't open it, were preparing for one last major pull while on their knees, I used that opportunity to use that momentum to get them on their back...

Just ugh, bunch of attempts to pick me up for a body slam.. just on and on till the cops came...

I didn't want to "hurt" them, as I had witnesses, but still the cops would need a statment....

I got some scrapes and bruises...

I don't want to naively think they weren't serious, even though after the 72 hour psychiatric hold they were out on the street....

They picked some of their stuff up today from the church that I dropped it off at for a neutral place for them to pick it up at, so I know they knew that I wasn't really "mad" at them, just I can't give the kind of help they need...

You are lucky after all. That he didn't decide to go out in a blaze of glory and go full "the last Samurai" on y'all as you and other occupants of the house slept, only to stop after killing everybody in the house before turning the blade upon himself to reconsider that coup-de-gras, as many do. I'll bet he would have been so sorry and had "regurts" about gong on that killing spree and getting that out of his system never again would have harbored thoughts of suicide ever again! :whatthe:

And oh yeah, 'lest I forget...

in before the lock.  :whee:

Was he cursing himself out? That would have been your indication that whatever room you were in, locking your door and jamming a chair under the doorknob would have been your best option, until at least you saw if he won or lost the argument.

I saw someone punch himself out at a casino once. Bolo punch, right to his jaw. Knocked himself down to one knee. Screamed at himself, a few choice words, gave himself a piece of his mind, tempers flared and he finally hauled off like a fast pitch softball motion and brought his fist up right into his face. Down he went, first time I ever saw someone tune himself up like Tyler Durden in Fight Club. :makepoint:
