Anyone tired of claim shows? 2 2

I just can't get into these things, but there has to be somebody that likes them.

I know people that watch regularly but haven't bought anything yet.  There are 200+ watchers, but the same handful of collectors (and dealers) claim most of the art. 

 

If someone I know is selling, I'll make it a point to watch. but Generally I only watch when there's nothing else going on.

I watch dueling dealers almost every week … and I only buy occasionally.. they are quite entertaining to me and it feels like a hang out with friends in the chat.

I've watched a lot of the Dueling Dealers and Dealmakers episodes.  But never tried to claim anything.  It's entertaining but there's almost too much going on in the chat.  I don't feel obligated to watch live or later.

I am more than tired of them and even more that dealers use this instead of updating their websites and if they update the sites it shows all the items that will be on sale at the show.

Honestly I don’t have the time to watch these shows. I prefer a solid dealer website update instead.

Are the shows fun and extremely well done, absolutely. Kudos to Bill and the dealers, but as I said, give me a website update instead.

I am buying comic art for 25 years now and have bought zero from any of these shows.

I've never watched a single minute of these shows, so I'm only assuming what you write is accurate. If so, that really is deplorable.

I'm tired of these Facebook dealers that act like they're setting up a friendly community while jacking up artist's rate 2, 3 or 4x and ripping off people who have never bought original art before. Selling modern pages for four figures that re-sell for a couple hundred on the secondary market isn't a community.

It is accurate.  And more often than not, there's at least one woman (screen names) in the chat.  And Anthony's wife is almost always on the show.  However, on the show, the term is applied to men, women and any other creature.  But y'know...

Re: Dueling Dealers pricing... the intro says art is "new" (at least for that dealer) and/or is "priced to sell".  But the show is designed to create some immediacy and FOMO.  Noone is forced to buy, so caveat emptor.

Laughable. There really is no such thing as shortages, broadly, across the entire hobby...unless you're super focused on Walt Simonson Thor covers

In the chat, someone made an "observation" about one of the pieces up for sale (don't recall the exact piece or episode).  And since then, the term has been used fairly regularly but not during every episode of Dueling Dealers.  Bill isn't usually the first one to call it out.  But if someone says it in the chat, Bill might echo it.  Sometimes there are variations depending on the context of the piece.  I can't recall a specific instance.  But for example, if there was a McFarlane Spider-Man piece, in one of those odd poses, it might be a "Mc"...  I'd never use the term in public or private.  And I think it's used too casually in the chat.

I bought one piece from Anthony and one from Mike on DD, at prices I was happy with. I have spent my limit for the time being and thus have not been watching so I am not tempted. I appreciate their attempts to build community and make silly videos to liven it up.

I was "aw shucksing" when I saw a page had sold during these live shows that I would have purchased.  I tried watching them since then but there seems like there is too much going on in an effort trying to entertain me rather than get to the meat and potatoes of the matter. 

I've stopped watching since then.   I can think of other things to have on in the background and get things done around here.

I've never watched one of the claim shows, and have no interest. I don't understand the appeal of the concept.

I just want to buy original art. Having to schedule my evening around being available to sit through one of the shows to see 25 or so pieces would be such a hassle. Very time inefficient. I'd love for the dealers to post the items on their websites so that I can decide within 30 seconds if any of the offerings are of interest to me. I don't want to sit around for an hour or more in hopes of something being offered that I'm interested in.
