Yes, you can go to FedEx if that office allows it.  Don't contact general FedEx, find the phone number to the local facility and call them.  They will pull it off of the truck after the first attempt.  If you call the 800# they will tell you they can't do it.  It is still just easier for me to have all my FedEx packages sent to be held at my local Walgreens.

I don't know what kinds of Walgreens ya'll have near you but mine are NOT the place I want expensive things shipped.

In summary:  FedEx shipping is not to blame.  It's the Drivers most of the time when there are problems.

If You want to avoid the signature required problems - Just schedule the origianl shipment to be delivered at Your local Walgreens with your name on the package.  2c

I don’t think it needs to be Walgreens. There are plenty of locations that allow FedEx holds/pickups such as certain Walmarts, Grocery Stores, FedEx Retail and Printing locations.

https://local.fedex.com/en-us

(Filter for Hold/Pickup after entering your location)

So, I’ve never personally done this before, but would prdfer to pick up my future CGC deliveries at my local FedEx store because I’m usually not at home to sign during the day. Do you just use the address of the preferred FedEx Hold/Pickup as your return address?

I have 5 Walgreens near me. Only 1 would I not want my books held there. The guy who usually gets my boxes for me doesn't even ask for my ID anymore. He knows my packages.

One of my last Walgreen pickups was like that ... and it really scares me. The girl behind the counter (new girl) said I looked honest so I didn't have to show her my I.D.

So as I was walking out I was thinking ... this girl has never seen me before - there's $2,000 of winnings from CL in the box - and she didn't even want to see my I.D.

I've ranted about FedEx in other threads, but yeah, this policy is the worst. I have terrible luck with FedEx, who i've caught redhanded lying about attempting delivery.

Not sure if it will work for your client, but the last CGC package I had delivered by FedEx was due to have a third attempt, and I knew I wouldn't be home because, well, I'm at work during the day, and that's always when FedEx comes. After explaining the situation to the person at the call center, they told me that I could sign a piece of paper and stick it in my door, and he would instruct the driver to leave the package. This seemed dubious at best, but I tried it, and I'll be damned, they took the signed piece of paper and left the package. But as for trying to pick it up at a hub, they would not give me that option.

same happened to me except they said they attempted twice but on my ring camera, they never showed up.  I also left a post it note on my door to tell them to leave it but rarely does that work.  Anyway, wasted a 3rd day and they finally showed up on sunday

I'm glad it finally worked out, but how annoying is that? The thing that killed me with that last shipment is that they made the second attempt on Friday, so you'd think the third would be Saturday, right? So I think, well, fine, I'll sit by the door all day Saturday, but at least I'll get it. So, Saturday comes, and I get a message saying that the third attempt will be on MONDAY, completely bypassing Saturday and Sunday. And the kicker is, I had another FedEx package delivered to me ON SATURDAY. So they were already coming to my house. What a pain it all is. Oh well.

Yeah 2 shipments ago the first attempt was Friday when I was at work, The tracking said they would redeliver Monday. I get home Saturday there is a note on the door so that's the second attempt, the tracking again says redeliver Monday. Then they show up Sunday morning luckily my wife was home.

So annoying, it's like they want to keep it confusing!

That is a pain as is the old "Your delivery has been rescheduled." ""Sucker! Hahahahaha""

Ok, FedEx has never told me the last part, at least not in writing.

We've been having some "problems" with FedEx lately. I see on a CGC web page that you can have shipments sent back via USPS if sent to a PO box, same cost. Says it will generally take longer for delivery.

If you currently receive orders regularly by this method, please post your opinion of the service in general, travel time from CGC, signature requirements, handling, ease of pickup, convenience of post office pickup hours, or any factors you think relevant. My biggest concern would be a marked increase in the travel time fron CGC, currently about 3-4 business days from FedEx, travelling 1500 miles. - thanks

Greetings and Salutations fellow collectors!

About good ol' Fedex. I run a logistics company. I do not offer Fedex for my clients. USPS and UPS. They have their faults for sure, but FedEx, I'll just say I don't use them. From my understanding Fedex Ground(which I believe is CGC's preferred shipping method) are sub-contractors. They have defined areas and distribute packages for FedEx. They are not FedEx employees. Like other businesses they have difficulty finding workers, and when they do, if they are good at the job or not, is another issue.

That being said, several times I've had packages scheduled for delivery on a certain date. More times than not, they do not make it. The reason is, Business is closed or unavailable. ITS A LIE. Either thy don't have enough help to make the run, not enough time to complete without having to pay more $(Overtime), or not enough packages going that way to make the trip profitable.  So to keep the bosses at FedEx happy and to meet delivery requirements, they say business is closed or unavailable. Covers their . Satisfies some metric. I get it, but it's still %#^%#.

CGC's policy is sound and reasonable. I choose to use FedEx(default) as to providing my own UPS shipper information because I had to do some other verification and I was in a hurry and too lazy. My Bad. I'll take care of this before my next submission. Other collectors may not have this option.

Regardless, no matter what carrier, if you are not using a shipping method/carrier with guaranteed delivery, it's going to happen. Like when u go to the drive thru and they ask you to pull around because you can't wait at the drive thru because they have to keep up to some kind of false metric. But I digress.

I’m stuck in a stupid FedEx loop. Now on the 2nd attempt even though my wife is home all day. Have never had a problem with the drivers not being to get into the building and suddenly it’s a problem. @CGC Mike I know this is impossible but could you please pass along how awful FedEx is? Not having other carrier options is absurd.

When there is a missed delivery, do they not leave a signature slip that you can sign and they will leave the package?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They didn’t even try to get in the building.

Sorry for the inconvenience.  I can pass your note along.

I caught a Fedex driver filling out the "we tried to deliver sticker" before he had even knocked on my door.  I guess he was assuming that no one was going to be home.

Mine was finally delivered yesterday. Wife caught him walking away from out door and had just left it there without a signature. Nice work, FedEx.

Fedex used to be a World Class company a few decades ago, when they were the Overnight Delivery specialist. Naturally they wanted to build on that, be all things to all people. They entered the very competitive space of global logistics, and succeeded in watering down the quality of their service to the abysmal level we see today.

I had some FedEx issues in the spring with 3 submissions being shipped back to me: 1) Driver left shipment on my porch without getting my signature (I was home), 2) Driver came to my porch, rang my doorbell, but wouldn't let me sign for the package on the electronic scanner because he was concerned about covid (although he didn't have a problem debating this with me for 5 minutes while neither of us was wearing a mask), and 3) Package was out for delivery, but was never delivered on the scheduled delivery date.  The driver just returned to his terminal with my shipment.

I had success resolving these issues by calling the FedEx customer service number (1.800.GoFedEx).  When I spoke with the CS person, I made it clear that I wanted to register a complaint with the local FedEx office responsible for the shipments.  An individual from this office called me twice (2 of the 3 complaints), listened to my concerns, and I feel he addressed them.  As stated previously, delivery drivers seem to be subcontractors.  If you don't have the local FedEx people manage their subcontractors, it's likely you will continue to have issues with your shipments.

I have the good fortune of living 5 minutes away from a FedEx Print and Ship location.  I've gotten my last few shipments delivered there for pickup.  The shipment seems safe there waiting for me.  The FedEx people (subcontractors also perhaps) always ask me for my ID and I need to provide them with the tracking number.  I'm not anchored to the house waiting for a FedEx shipment on delivery day.  No FedEx delivery drivers.  Life is good now...

ForgetEveryDeliveryEvenXists seems appropriate based on my general experience with FedEx for CGC shipments or otherwise.

Perhaps 15 or slightly more years ago I would receive comic book shipments from, if I recall correctly, Westfield Comics in Madison, WI via DHL. DHL provided absolutely fantastic service and I greatly miss that company delivering to me.
