Corvonie
Hi everyone, Sharing my most recent acquisition here and I just could not be more pleased and excited to share it with you. Priced and sold as a 4.0, to me it’s either higher or the Mona Lisa of 4.0s. I’ve never seen interiors this lovely on a book this old! Let me know your grade, maybe before and after a clean and press if I ever get the courage to have it worked on Edited April 27, 2023 by Corvonie Added images
cchunn3
Trimmed all the way around? Image shift at the bottom? It's a beaut, but something's sketchy...

flying_bison
This is a gorgeous book. And this is not something you see very often. I think I would put that at 4.5 to 5.0.
grendelbo
4.0 seems right with that sub crease and other moderate defects. Presents pretty good though. Thanks for sharing.
Corvonie
Thanks again! scburdet
I think 4.0/4.5 is right for the sub crease. I'd definitely do some examination to exclude the possibility the top edge was trimmed. My gut says it's just a miscut from printing, but always something to be mindful of. It's hard to tell if something is trimmed in photos, and I'm not sure I'd bet on my ability to ID it with a book in-hand either. timfinz

You can see the white at the bottom where it was offset. I’m pretty confident in the provenance of this book, but I also think from the bottom you can see it was not trimmed. thanks for your input! scburdet and timfinz
Mars76
It is a great looking book but that sub crease keeps it at a 4.0 for me.
PopKulture
A book can be a 5.5 with a clean subscription crease, and I've even seen CGC'ed books at 6.0 creases more faint. That being said, I think you're looking at a solid 4.5 (and a possibly longshot at a 5.0, although I think there are just a few too many spine ticks for that next grade step). A great book nonetheless and a great presenter!
1950's war comics
mean looking sub crease leaves it at a 4.0 this comic looks like it was at the bottom of the mail tub back in 1961 with the full weight of the mail on top of the folded book making it completely flat creased in half but if submitted to CGC they might be generous and give you a 4.5 Edited April 27, 2023 by 1950's war comics FoggyNelson
Math Teacher
4.0 on a normal day, 4.5 on a good day. Corvonie
comicginger1789
Yeah the centrefold crease while it can likely be reduced with a press, it breaks colour so it will still be there and CGC hits those hard. It will still be a very very nice 4.0-4.5 at best and one you should cherish!

Literally if I was told it was worthless bc of the cover offset or whatever I would have no regrets. LowGradeBronze
Given how much you appreciate it's qualities in hand, I think it would be a shame to disguise how well it has survived by pressing it. At the moment it's a true reflection of its history. It looks 4.0 to me and the page quality is gorgeous. Thanks for showing. Wonderful addition to your collection!
