His art and style was a big reason for Spiderman's early success. He is an icon of significant importance who left his mark across different genres and decades in our hobbies. Then one day my brother showed me an ASM 39. Wow. I love my JB, but it was Romita's art that inspired me to read the Spidey story arcs (and comics in general) with more intention and attention to detail. Peter Parker was growing up, and the complexities of young and early adulthood continued to be displayed in JRs layouts; Romita captured these in spades. I only met him once, at San Diego in 2006, and he signed two comics for me. He was just as nice as everyone says. R.I.P. to a legend!
