The usual justification on Ebay is "I am not a professional grader".

More like 'I am trying to learn, and I am currently being mentored in this process by an alpha male chimpanzee at our local zoo. However, I have yet to come anywhere close to his primate level of grading accuracy, so please cut me some slack."

Probably thinks that creasing is the main factor bringing down the grade (as the books look to be relatively crease-free). But yeah, still way over-graded.

All were from the same seller. And I agree as all his books look to have water damage.

I do think @Point Fivehad a good point earlier in this thread. The seller could just be copying and pasting item listings.

Thanks. But it's actually **worse** than copying-and-pasting, which would at least take some conscious effort! Ebay's **default** way to start a listing is "here's an existing listing that we're cloning exactly for you; you can wave it through as is or tinker with it as you see fit". Like, if you're a seller who has no idea what VF- means, chances are probably pretty decent you'll just leave that bit alone.

I know very well that I’m incompetent and should price cautiously, but I hope that this pretence of vulnerability makes you feel sympathetic towards me while I make your nose bleed as profusely as possible instead.

It's Friday!    Time for another installment of "mock the overgrader" (in a clever but compassionate and sensitive manner, naturally   ).  Nominations for "Most Overgraded Comic Of The Week" are welcomed!  However, please remember that:

• We're looking for gross/glaring overgrading (6.0-ish books billed as VF/NM, 4.0/4.5-ish comics described as VF, trashed beaters listed as VG). 
• Chronic offenders are a plus (especially if that seller has been negged for overgrading by past customers). 

Now, lemme get this party started with a nomination of my own:
atomiccitycomics for his "like new, 8.5 VF+" copy of Thor #146 and/or his "VG+" copy of Superman #131.
