Not really, considering the climate (mild, as a result of the region's proximity to the Pacific ocean).  As any Bay Area resident will attest, summer can actually be the coldest season.  When temperatures hit 100~110 degrees in the Central Valley, a thick layer of fog will often blanket the coast.  My family lived in the Berkeley Hills and we rarely needed to water the yard (the ground was almost always wet).  Here are my purchased-off-the-rack copies of the Marvel mega-keys.  Read frequently and stored unbagged/unboarded for most of their pre-certification lives.  Lots of handling wear, but very fresh/supple paper.

A more amazing thing is that none of the SF books I've seen has foxing.  This is the typical appearance of vintage SF Bay Area paper.

“White pages” is a misnomer. There really is no such thing. I have worked in the printing industry most of my life. Even fresh rolls of newsprint of the best quality is no better than “off white”.

Newsprint by its nature is the cheapest grade of paper manufactured. Even in its higher grades. In the best grade, it might even have a “blueish” cast.

And, newsprint “yellows” first especially if in bright sunlight. Eventually, tanning and browning with light and heat, humidity. I have seen many books with yellowed pages. 

I have seen books with paper that looks like it came from the mill though. Mile High, Salida, Vancouver come to mind. Off white might be more appropriate.

”Bone White” is simply a selling tool and even bones yellow with time…

I don't think anyone here is under any real illusion about what is 'white'...us proper folk were raised with the OWL card

White is the color of the area to the right and left of this card. “Off white” is yellow…
