2023 CGC Grading Contest Season 2 Fall Edition #8 Round 3 8 8

Good grief. 

I seriously struggled to put ANY of those books above 5.0

Might have hit a dozen on this round. 

Those some farrged up books with enormous GA gift grades.

I got 8 points because I bumped four books up from my original thought. I would have had 4 points.

Sounds like an exact description of my misery but no bullseye's to cover myself. Originally had all 3 books graded lower by 1-2 points but bumped them because, hey it's GA books and CGC might be more lenient on them

Wow just a brutal round for me. 2 points last round, like 10 this round. Fight absolutely killed me. I had it a 3.0. Tears, bends, creases, pieces missing everywhere…. 5.0? Really? How is it nicer than Dark Shadows?

Devil's advocate -- the Fight looks like a really nice book to me. Vibrant colors, (likely) glossy and a nicely rounded spine. Very little color loss for a black-covered book from the 1940s. The spine corner chips might have gotten a partial pass for being production-related, who knows. The book has flaws, but I think it's quite a bit better than "the average used comic book", i.e. a VG.

The Nature Boy was one of my two bullseyes. It's an odd one for sure. All those flaws you rightly mention, yet the edges are just unusually nice and sharp... take a look again at how crisp that right edge is. I was guessing that gave it a gentle nudge upward.

I had the Romantic Adventures at 5.5. Man, that's a lot of ugly on that book for a 6.5. Never understood CGC's pretend-it's-not-there policy with dust shadows, and this one had stains and nibbles to boot.

Ouch, I think this is one of the worst rounds I’ve ever had. CGC hit the books with detachment/partial detachment issues harder than I thought they would.

Another 5 for me. Third round in a row where I'm off by 2 grades on 1 book, 3 off by a grade and one bullseye. Consistency?
