BA773
Found this on ebay, i asked the guy why he decided to sell this unbelievable run, because in my opinion someone who had made it have probably a really sentimental link with the specific run but i was wrong... look his lasts words: i never planned to keep them like he just completed it for laugh... i cannot even think to spend this kind of ammount in my whole life MattrixAlien, KCOComics and Mmehdy
comicginger1789
This hobby is full of all kinds...most "normal" people would scoff at majority of us for spending even $50 on a comic book of all things. I appreciate this guys goal to get all the books in 9.8 grade. That being said, not a very hard thing to do given the era of the books, availability and cost to do so. Most of these books are $1-5 books (or likely were when acquired) and so if we assume he spent $50 per to get the grades, that's slightly under 10k to do so (again assuming current prices, might have been done slightly cheaper). So the ask of nearly double makes sense....the problem here is this is a tough sell. I highly doubt someone would pay up for it. He will be able to sell certain issues without a problem but I get the sense this lot will be very very tough to sell quickly and for a profit close to what he seems to be imagining. The only thing you'd have to do is buy them, so if you have the money, that shouldn't be a problem. And he didn't pay that much from the sounds of it, if he himself slabbed most of them. There are people spending $16,000 and many times over that for 1 or 2 comics. And they do it often. I'd rather have a few or one good comic known for something big that I want than a run of any one comic book title, but that's me, though. Others get a rush going after full runs. To each their own, but I don't think this is that big a deal.
Popular Post KCOComics
I've found the hunt is the most exciting part! I enjoy collecting runs, but when I complete the run the joy is fleeting. The excitement is for the next big chase. FigaroToe
The chase is almost better than getting the item in my experience. I also collect bourbon and records, and the hunt is so much fun. My friend and I always laugh that once we procure something super rare, we pick it up, inspect, and then just put it on the shelf and seek the next big grail. factory sealed and BA773
mattn792
Speaking as someone who put this entire run and more together in SS 9.8, save for that made of toilet paper piece of &%@t #35, it’s not nearly as hard to part with a set like this as you might think. I never said that is easy, in contrary! But the things is that is crazy for me is to see an entire run of more than 100 comics all in slab and above all 9.8!
