Cat
Yes, on the famous DKR #1 cover, is his back towards us, the reader? That's how I'd always interpreted it, but apparently, that's wrong. Which way do you think he's facing? https://www.ign.com/articles/batman-dark-knight-returns-cover-facing-forward-frank-miller Edited November 30, 2023 by Cat ganni, ADAMANTIUM and grendelbo

Iceman399
Based on the head/cowl I don't think the above statue "works". Looks awfully cocked if that is the interpretation.

Get Marwood & I
If it was back to the viewer, wouldn't we be able to see the right (as viewed from the back) cowl horn too? ADAMANTIUM and TupennyConan 1

Ken Aldred
Never noticed that before. Still think he’s facing away. Works just as well for me. Has done for over 3 decades. Millar actually had a history of exaggerating boot heels. It's one of his signature motifs. Once you start looking, you'll start to see it in his art. The question is a very interesting one, but even more interesting is who chose to black out the silhouette? Miller, Janson or Varley? Any OA people with a deeper knowledge of this have any thoughts? bronze_rules and D2 1
