This will be my last contribution to the conversation (hopefully) ...

but CGC has had a policy of keeping the ownership info for each submission secret from the grading team to eliminate favoritism or cronyism. Each group of books has no Details. So if books are swapped out at this phase, it could easily remain unknown indefinitely. It is not some glaring failure on CGC's production team. The only failure is with HR's inability to screen out bad apples, and that's at any company, anywhere.  If they had continued to forbid selling, it may have been less likely, but there are ways around that too. Most larger companies I ever worked for forbid side work. You can be terminated if you do. They might do better to restrict exits from the grading area while on the clock, and monitor what goes in from the outside. Certainly no knapsacks going in, if they aren't already doing that. That's basically all that could have been done. There was NO glaring incompetence and no indication that it is widespread. GOD BLESS ...

8 graders working 8 hours per day, 6 days per week, could do 2 million grades a year, if each grader does 100 books each day. I could be wrong and often am, but I seem to remember CGC starting out with 2 graders and a finalizer. Not sure how many work each day now, so this is speculative in nature, but will give an idea of the production speed needed to generate a million units.

Are you actually suggesting that the CCG ownership group should fast track their management succession plan and turf out poor overworked Matt before they've managed to squeeze, press, and maximize all of the potential out of him and even before he's had a chance to implement his big money making CGC 9.9 pre-screen resubmit plan?  

Needless to say, all of the submittors who currently play the CPR game probably can't wait for Jason Ewert to be installed as the new President and Head Grader of CGC and raise the level of grading to an even higher standard with their new "Edge of Perfection" grading model along with their even bigger money making CGC 10.0 pre-screen resubmit scheme.  Without a doubt, they'll all be running down to their nearest Loonie Store as fast as their little feet can take them in hopes of finding the sharpest pair of scissors there is. 

No worries on my end though, as I am already ahead of this game since I have my hedge trimmer sitting in the garage all charged up and raring to go.

Ehh... it's very hard to negotiate.  Look at the negative perception that Heritage has because their employees have bid on items in Heritage auctions.  

I mean, how do I know that a grader, who is in the market for a Hulk 181 might downgrade every Hulk 181 that comes across his desk over a period of time so the book he can eventually find the book he wants at the price he wants down the road?

There are a lot of games that I can think of as a grader, aside from that one, to monkey around with the playing field.

I don't disagree, but I don't see a great solution. I suppose you can take people off the street and train them to grade but that's how you get errors like a SS Action 1 9.4 or whatever. 

I lost faith in the company years ago, and recent events have done nothing to cause me to regret it.

Although this clearly works in theory or in a fantasy world, you DO realize that unfortunately we are stuck living in the REAL world here.  

Perfect case in point being the shall we say SEEMINGLY (well, at least from a strict visual POV since we don't have the actual books in hand) rather "generous" grading of the Promise Collection of pedigree books which makes you wonder who the so-called anonymous "secret" submittors really were?

They do know.   I thought it was that they cannot universally distinguish whether or not a book was pressed or not if it was pressed by someone other than CCS.

Their policy is that pressing is not an issue. You don't have to buy their product or submit to them. It can bother someone until the cows come in... they won't be changing that policy. What I was trying to say (clearly not very well) was if they know if THEY pressed it. My understanding is they have always said the graders don't know if it was pressed by CCS.

Nothing personal. We are aloud to disagree. It would be very boring if everyone always agreed. 

That being said, I think they have many self inflicted wounds and I would call some of them incompetence.
